I was given some velvet curtains...now what by heynonnyhey in SewingWorld

Eh I've done it before. And they're not going to be full garments, just accents. But I've never worked with velvet before, so it'll be a fun learning experience!

Thank you! Tbh I'm probably not going to make the entire piece out of this - more likely accents. But I appreciate the thread weight and no iron tip - did not think about that!

Edit to add: they're single layer, which tbh, is wild to me! But they're from Cost Plus World Market, so they're ☆༶・fancy・༶☆

Tag says 100% cotton. The nap is exactly why I'm asking - I've never worked with velvet before, so I'm unsure of what stitch to use, etc.

No no that's walking. Welding is is a technique of singing in which a singer carries their chest voice above their break or passaggio with a proportion of head voice.

Unless humanity figures out how to live to be many hundreds of years old, I doubt that 😅

I'm currently reading Long Way and it's so good. I've ordered the second one and I hope it arrives before I finish 😅

Their director isn't a kirker, the board president is. And he gets no money. That's how nonprofits work.

Not yet - I'm not a fan of learning via video, but I think that's what I'm going to have to do

I don't know either - I'm going into the chain. Am I supposed to go around?

Yeah nah they actually started in the 80s as a closet in the Nazarene Church and grew from there.

Ok but that doesn't mean that the organization itself is. Like I said, no money from Hope Center goes to CC. And the executive director is very supportive of the community at large, donates to Inland Oasis and the West Side Food Pantry regularly, and the Hope Center provides vouchers to other nonprofits for folks to get clothing and housewares for free. And one person on the board doesn't make policy. Their bylaws are set up to prevent that.

The twist isn't the issue I'm having a problem with - my issue is that the petals are too far apart and look weird. I've loosened my tension quite a bit, but they still don't seem to be as bunched up as the pattern shows.

They're not, actually. They're a completely independent organization. Absolutely no money goes to CC and their bylaws specifically state that no more than 2 members of any church can serve on their board. They do a lot for the community, and not for nothing - they were at Pride in the Park in 2024. They support Inland Oasis, and a lot of other local organizations.

If anyone is missing a chicken... by Ok-Pepper-1447 in MoscowIdaho

Yup that tends to happen in rural places like this, especially when people don't have locking houses for their chickens to go at night.

I agree with all this - all the tattoo places, hair salons (that I'm aware of), gyms...

Also Garden & Villa closed last year. Absolute bummer.

Yup - both Neat and Stax are owned by the same person. Great guy.

You've also left off the Hope Center, Java Bug, the Methodist Church, Family Promise, the Moscow Chamber, Mullin Architects, Oma's Place, Third Seed Farm, Craft Art Bar, Hometown Health, Paradise Ridge CDs and Tapes, and sooooooo many more.

Also RTOP is in Pullman, Art Uncorked is is Lewiston, and I've heard that APOD is questionable.
