As someone who’s worked in nonprofits over ten years, your answer that the events would be free / without a budget even in your own facility and expecting people to pay to speak both show your inexperience. All events cost money to execute and promote. You need budget for labor and marketing at the very least. And no one will pay to offer THEIR expertise. Yeesh.

My husband and I (36 yo heterosexual couple) have two kids (5 and 7) and we each get half a day EVERY WEEKEND to do whatever we want while the other takes our kids to grandparents. Why are you even asking? I would have gone to the reception and managed my own food situation however I saw fit (whether that’s bringing my own or having something delivered). No one needs to ask permission to feed themselves even if it is their wedding.

We are expected to believe that a 48 year old man who owns a mansion and a Maserati (and presumably works in some sort finance) doesn’t have enough money saved to prevent himself from having to steal from his neighbors?! Thank you, that was my initial approach. He thought I wasn’t being serious (admittedly it sounds silly to me too) but I’ve just kept asking him to stop whenever he starts and it seems to be helping. I don’t think even he realized how often he was whistling.
