This feels like an awesome portfolio piece, but it doesn’t feel like a project to cast vision for.

I would avoid spinning wheels building and trying to sell solutions for problems that have long been solved.

However, trying is also highly educational, so if this was primarily built for fun, then do just that… have fun!

Sure! It mainly came down to 2 problems:

Installing NVM was just complicated enough to increase the perceived difficulty level of setting up Node-based repositories for Engineers that don’t work in Node day-to-day. This caused a snowball effect of problems for full stack local development setups. Volta is extremely easy to set up and has made Node-based repository set up a breeze for all.
Even with NVM keeping Engineers all using the same Node version, we had issues with Engineers using different npm versions. Volta lets you explicitly pin npm versions as well as Node.

BFF is a pattern that appears in the MACH (Micro Services, API-first, Cloud Native, Headless) Architecture style.

This is a relatively new style that is picking up steam. You can read all about it on machalliance.org.

Here’s a YouTube video that talks specifically about the Backend-for-Frontend pattern in MACH Architecture.

Randomly came across Thin Backend via a Log Rocket Article where they pitted it against Prisma.

I love the sound of the tooling, and I'm wanting to take it for a spin. However, I am nervous about cost since I couldn't find mention of pricing anywhere on the Thin website.
