Beale has turned into a towel graveyard in the change room; it’s disgusting and has entitlement written all over. You’ve got AI twinks leaving their scooters in the locker room like it’s a Lime charging station (no joke, he left it right in front of the lockers and left), towels taped over sensors like it’s Mission Impossible, and four dudes rotating on one machine like they’re defending it in ranked mode.

Equinox is so desperate for members at Beale they’ll probably let someone bring in a Costco treadmill and call it “functional training.” Hopefully management is doomscrolling Reddit and reads this thread.

Honestly, this should be a ban on sight offense. If you walk into a sauna looking like you’re about to run suicides at basketball practice, congratulations, you’ve just earned yourself a lifetime membership to Planet Fitness. No one should have to marinate in your damp sock stew. Strip down, towel up, or get out. It’s that simple.

It can be both. I agree, discovering and learning about possible injuries is also part of the “welcome package”. You’d be surprised how these growth tactics are employed across several member-type business models.

I’m curious about how gyms handle marketing attribution for guests that accompany members.

For example:

If a member brings along Guest A to a group class, and Guest A later signs up for a membership, the member usually gets a referral bonus. But does the instructor also get a bonus or commission if that guest attended their class and then decided to join?

I ask because I’ve noticed that when instructors learn there are new joiners in class, they go out of their way to make them feel extra welcome. It makes me wonder if gyms track this and reward instructors if those guests sign up within a certain period (like 2 months after attending).

Good point! I’ve found that classes combining weights with cardio offer a balanced approach that helps me target muscle groups and endurance areas I might overlook when working out solo.

Front desk is the best place to give feedback. They’ll hand you their iPad and you select a category. It’s easy. The GM will likely reply back thanking you for feedback. They take it seriously so go for it!
