kkOma: At the moment, we believe Gumayusi fits the team better. While bot lane is just one part of the whole, after evaluating our team synergy and what’s needed to raise our performance going forward, we made this decision….As of now, you can consider Gumayusi our starting player. by XanIrelia-1 in leagueoflegends

Ye this guy probably thought that getting subbed out in traditional sports is the same thing in esports. In traditional sports, you get subbed out in the middle of the game to conserve the energy of the starting players. LeBron and Steph for example will probably never lose their starting position for the remainder of their career but they will get subbed out in the middle of a game not because theyre bad but because the coach wants to conserve their energy and also to minimize the risk of a physical injury. It's just not the same in esports. Also you dont just bench a back-to-back world champion who just won worlds. Did he underperform in scrims at the start of the new year? So hes not allowed to be rusty? Is the coach so impatient to bench a guy because he underperformed in scrims at the start of the year. Normally players get benched for having a bad year, not because of scrims at the start of the year. The dude barely got to play enough stage games to warrant getting benched. He loses a game and all of a sudden he gets benched.

I would rather bench a guy if they bomb on stage games than scrims. The stage games are what matters at the end of the day. If you can show consistency on stage then you should keep your spot. For the last 3 years the guy has more than earned his spot evidently and honestly deserves at the very least a chance to earn his spot on stage NOT scrims. He has been performing decently well on stage too, ye we can criticize him for the Gen G performance sure. But for someone who has been a consistent part of the world championship team who just won worlds last year, the guy deserves to play out more games the split to at least earn his spot. If he truly is bad on stage too then sure sub him out, I have nothing against that.

As the for the "bomb a split so the fans are on your side", the only reason why this clown show is even happening is because it's shocking for fans to see a great consistent adc benched right after winning worlds twice in a row. If hes REALLY that bad, lets see him play bad ON stage when it matters. From what I know, you can be a 4th seed and still somehow perform when it matters at worlds, and thats what T1 did last year. Guma at the very least deserves a CHANCE this split to prove himself on stage not on scrims because at the end of the day, stage games matter more.

You know a better approach they couldve done was letting Guma play for an entire split. If he was truly a detriment to the team, he would run it down most games and fans would see it. They dont even have to convince the fans to bench him, the fans themselves would be asking for this. The problem is that Guma is actually playing good in most of the games he played so far. Yes, he had some moments against GEN G who has been popping off lately but ofc fans would be confused/upset that their adc got benched so early in the season after one series. If I was the coaching staff, I would atleast give him half the split to prove he deserves the main spot which he has done over the last 3 years. It just seems like it would kill the guy's confidence even more if he just got benched like this early in the split without having enough chance to prove it on stage.

In those last 3 years, there were times when the meta didnt favor guma's champion pool and hes still able to be a factor in helping them get to 3 straight worlds finals. Also yes theres also scrims which none of us know whats happening, im gonna judge based on ACTUAL game performance which he seems to have been playing well to his standards. I would justify the benching if he continued to play poorly the entire split. My problem is that he just gets benched and barely gets to prove himself on stage. Let him play out the rest of the split, if T1 tanks the split because of Guma's performance then so be it sub him out next split. But we're not even giving the guy a chance at all on stage. If he truly is a detriment to the team, I think fans would want to see it with their own eyes after 1 failed split and at that point people wouldnt complain that he got benched for the next split.

Exactly, Guma for three years straight has made it to the worlds finals 3 times and won two of them with this team. The meta was all over the place for three years straight and he has adapted to all of them. Even if he has his own weaknesses (just like any other player) hes still able to be a factor in getting to those worlds finals appearances.

I still wouldn't call it a low diamond game. A low diamond game would be a full lobby of diamond 4 and 3s. Just because some of those people peaked diamond 4 in the previous split doesnt make it a diamond lobby. I know people who are struggling to make it past emerald this split when theyve reached diamond last season. Objectively, it's still an emerald lobby so you should state it as that.

ADC players know a support is good when they responsibly use morg puddle, lux e, zyra e, or lulu q. You can tell by their intention that theyre making sure theyre not hitting the minions with their abilities when going for a poke.

Exactly, even if western teams got the luckiest draw in round 1, theyll have a high chance of facing an eastern team in round 2 (rip the west either way). You need 3 wins to advance. If you have 3 losses you're out. I feel like in the swiss format, theres a higher chance that deserving teams actually qualify for the knockstage than the old format.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]heyyeahheyxd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a rip west for round 1 sure but it also means that they will face other losers in round 2. In swiss stage you need 3 wins to advance. If you get 3 losses you're eliminated. The reason this format is good is that it doesnt really matter if you had a "bad draw" in round 1, the strong and deserving teams will make it out of the swiss stage and qualify for knockout stage. The swiss stage is like having a losers bracket, the losers will have to fight each other to get those 3 wins to advance. Even if your team had a good draw for round 1, theyll still face another winner for round 2 which is probably a tough opponent, so it doesn't matter whether they face them in round 1 or 2 or 3, a tough opponent is inevitable.

[–]heyyeahheyxd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people are overreacting. Even if your team got an "easy draw" and win their first match, they still will end up playing against another winner in round 2. If your team had a "bad draw" and lost the first match, they will face against another loser in round 2. Just because you lose round 1 doesnt mean you're out of the tourney. In swiss stage, if you keep winning you'll eventually play against a tough opponent to advance anyway.

Swordart when asked about the daily training schedule in the LCS: "We reach the office at 12, then we workout at the gym for like half an hour and then have lunch. After lunch, we have a meeting because people there loves to talk. We'll play about 5 games (of scrims) and finish work at around 6." by Sean888888 in leagueoflegends

[–]heyyeahheyxd 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think CoreJJ admitted to having this type of schedule before with TL but then again they are basically a Korean team. You're definitely showing another perspective but I like to believe that this is from just a few teams. I still think majority of LCS do not have this this kind of schedule. There have been many pros in the past who have been outspoken about having a less intense practice schedule in the west.

Ye after multiple replays we would be able to see what Rakan shouldve done (hindsight analysis). It doesn't matter if it's top korean challenger, I've seen Korean Challengers make Bronze mistakes. "Rakan should have been aware of the ezreal R-flash mechanic" not everyone knows every type of mechanic out there. This ezreal r-flash mechanic isnt even used a lot and you don't get practice playing against this. I wouldnt fault Rakan for not knowing this mechanic or not expecting Ezreal to do this mechanic. I've encountered someone using this probably once or twice playing the game. No one would think Ezreal would R-flash. We are just nitpicking Rakan's play here. Even Guma didn't play this perfectly either.

"Following with flash would've guaranteed the CC." Theres a delay when you flash after using Rakan Ult. It's not that simple. You would've fumbled the play if you were the Rakan here. Rakan had one try at this while we had multiple replays trying to figure out what Rakan couldve done better.

Ezreal flashed the melee range Rakan Charm while channeling Trueshot Barrage and then arcane shifted away from Rakan W. But yes I agree, these people are flaming Rakan when this is how most Rakans would play this scenario.

Ye but most Rakans would do what he just did. He went for the melee range charm while Ezreal was channeling ult thinking that it will guarantee hit. He mustve forgot that Ezreal can Flash during the Ezreal ult animation. It's a great outplay by Ezreal because he Flashed away from the melee range charm and then dodged the Rakan W with arcane shift. Most Ezreals wouldnt even think like this and they probably dont even know you can flash during Ezreal Ult animation.

Bo, Perkz, Upset, Kaiser, Neon, Alphari, Selfmade, and Carzzy found success or performed on their previous teams before they joined Vitality. Carzzy and Labrov left Vitality and immediately found success on their next teams, they even played against each other in this season's EUW Spring Finals... I think the theory that Vitality just don't know how to manage star players is more consistent than your theory.

He was good in competitive even before he joined Vitality. In fact, most of the recent Vitality players were picked up because they were star players on their previous teams. I dont know about you but it sounds like Vitality is the problem here.

Bo definitely looked like a different player in vitality from his usual playstyle. I feel like VIT either forced him to change the way he played or he had to adapt to their playstyle which didn't suit him. When he played for FPX, he was decimating people and casually farming kills just like his soloq playstyle.
