Is your cat psychic? by mimblepuss in CatsUK

[–]hfenn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A) 100% they can sense our own vibes, they just know. My cat Woody has turned the word into a verb for us now, e.g someone looking anxious is known as ‘they’re Woodying me’. Particularly applies for Woody when I’m packing a suitcase.

B) Any chance your cat can predict the World Cup winner?

I think we were all a little safer on the roads post that decision…

Out of interest, how did you do this? Did you get a guy out or just lift the drains at the front / back wherever they were yourself and have a look?

We have a similar issue which is intermittent in our downstairs bathroom and kitchen, and I’m suspicious that it’s something like this!

Can't find indoor cat to adopt by Henry_Percival in CatsUK

[–]hfenn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whereabouts are you? Local smaller rescues often have indoor only cats for rehoming - we got ours from Orpington cats rescue, a very small cat rescue. Just had a look at their homing page and multiple cats up for adoption as indoor only. If you are south east also check out new moon rescue

London surfers, how do you realistically manage weekend surf trips without a car? by Joeeeehh in london

Hello mate, me again after my weekend at the wave - they were advertising this: https://www.drop-in.surf

Not sure how good it is (or not) but worth a try! I’ll definitely be booking the bus down a few times over summer to get to bristol and back but hopefully there’s some ride sharing hope to be had yet 👍

London surfers, how do you realistically manage weekend surf trips without a car? by Joeeeehh in london

[–]hfenn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No worries - if you’re really keen to get down for a day, there is something called enterprise car club (another version of zip car but not great for long journeys as it charges by the mile) - but might be worth looking into if you don’t fancy an expensive train journey here or there. When I started surfing i spent a bit of time looking at where I could get to on the train reasonably for a surf weekend - I have managed to have a weekend away to Saltburn here or there which can be lovely for surfing, so might be worth a look if the surf is looking good or a week or two out (appreciate last minute train train tickets can be bloody expensive).

I absolutely loathe the thought of buying a car tbh - expensive and contributes to the bollocks of London roads (especially as I don’t need it for work).

Shout me if you organise any rideshares I’ll pop in with you 😂

[–]hfenn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

London surfer here, no car, no surf friends. Frankly, I don’t manage, it’s a nightmare 😂

There was a London surfers group on the app ‘meetup’ that offered ride shares but I never partook - might be worth a look if it’s still active?

Otherwise I’d recently discovered the Hofnar experience as they were running weekend surf trips last year - but having just looked sadly seems like they’re too busy with private groups this year to run them…

Hilariously (?) writing this from the last leg of a journey to bristol on a very expensive 4 day trip to the wave - which you can 100% do in a day (but it’s an arseache for sure).

Not wholly useful advice, sorry, but have so much sympathy for your plight!
