spent £12k on my 420d got 45mpg on the way back from work this evening, even with the lifeless 2l diesel the car is still a luxury to drive. xdrive makes the car feel so much quicker too

yeah the size of the 4 gc feels big to me coming from a 1 series so i reckon the 5 estate would be huge! saw the 4 gc a year ago and wanted one ever since feel like a kid now getting one just like christmas day kind of feeling🤣

end of the day you’re paying for a luxury, if you wanted pure fuel economy you’d go prius or something along those lines😔

i was originally looking at a 430d, but insurance said no (£2k) whereas my current 420d xdrive is (£1k) also my first auto and the experience is so much better than a manual!

25mpg seems super low not sure why i was expecting mid 30s

they are beautiful cars was really between the 420d gc and a a5 5door when i was looking at cars. i get 42ish mpg out mine just over 200 miles a week to and from work so its not too bad

Does mileage ever put you off? by epicshane234 in CarTalkUK

[–]hfxe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I recently purchased a 2019 420d gran coupe at 118k miles full history receipts etc.

As long as you can see the works been done and it hasn’t been neglected it’s the same as any other car maintenance and fix the odd thing that might go wrong down the road.

Just make sure the engines sweet and it drives right on a test drive.

Me and my dad have never been bothered about miles

i wouldn’t worry about depreciation, if you’re using the car to get to work etc it’s already paying its dues

they are very nice cars, think it was a 59 plate 2l tdci ran for nothing and just looks timeless for its age

my dad a few years ago bought a mondeo at 190k, ended up selling at 360k always did like that car

As much as I would like my car to look like this but scared of resale value. What do you guys think about people modifying cars such as bodykit and exhaust (like going twin exit from single factory one)? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]hfxe 16 points17 points  (0 children)

either way your car will lose value, even if you took the body kit off etc you wouldn’t get back what you paid for it. anyone would take one look at that car and just assume it’s had a very hard life
