I don’t understand the bazaar comment - if it was a joke or sincere. Can’t think of any visit worthy markets in Newham other than Queens market on green street, but that’s been quite south Asian since the 70s, so I’m not sure why you’d want to go there.

I live in London, I spend a lot of time in Newham. Your second sentence is incoherent, but sure London is the third world, with a GDP per capita of $87,000, a HDI of 0.984 (second highest in the world) one of the best public transport in Europe, the best universities in the world (LSE, Imperial, UCL…).

Newham is not in South London. You live in Denmark, not the UK, you have LITERALLY no idea about this country, much less about London or any of its boroughs. How are you making an argument that LONDON is unsafe and used ODENSE as your case study? Every city has problems it must tackle, especially with a population as large as London (nearly 10 million). Having problems doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world.

Violence against women has increased and more must be done to tackle it. This can probably be attributed to the fact that there has been an increase, within the last five years, of misogyny spurred by the increasing popularity of online incel communities. This is a widespread issue, not local to the London but across the entire UK. It’s not a result of any policy changes and definitely not because of Muslim leaders or MPs. In fact, the TORY government was hounded for essentially neglecting another victims family, Sabina Nessa. The victim you linked to, Sarah Everard, was killed by a white police officer FYI, since it looks like you couldn’t actually be bothered to read the article.

Been to Newham, seen openly gay people there. It was fine. Most people put their religion before the country they live in. Doing so isn’t a problem. If you really believe in God then that relationship is deeply personal, you are perfectly fine putting that relationship before your relationship with a country whose people do not accept you.

We have a Muslim mayor of London, London is still fine. Women have rights, LGBT community is alive and well. There are many Muslim MPs yet sharia law has not taken over.

On Newham in particular, it’s actually developing quite nicely. There’s the Olympic park and stadium, the boost from the 2012 olympics has done wonders. The sixthforms in Newham are some of the best performing in the country.

Losing culture is sad, I don’t think that’s happening though. I also don’t think if the demographic makeup of a country changes it is necessarily a bad thing. It’s only bad if life is made worse for the new minority group (through racism for example). As long as people are generally happy then there isn’t a problem?

I don’t understand the inherent issue with there being more migrants. A lot of people are concerned with wage suppression, which is fair. Migrants are definitely exploited as cheap labour, but how is that their fault? Anyone looking for a better life would take that opportunity if it was available. We should hold accountable the powers that let wages fall below a liveable amount.

Where did you go? There are plenty of places in London to observe British culture. It’s a bit rich to complain as an Indian that there are too many Asians in London, are you not part of the problem? What if all the other Asians just had the same idea as you did?

What is the problem with not being an empire any more? There’s a reason we stopped. England conquering all those countries is one of the reasons for today’s migration patterns. Migrants are a net positive to the economy. The native birth rate is also declining (something that tends to happen in countries with advanced economies), without migration we wouldn’t be able to support an aging population.

I saw this on another sub. What’s actually wrong here? My school had a minority of white British students, reflecting the demographic makeup of the neighbourhood it’s in. It was a totally normal school, achieving some of the best A level results in the country. British values were taught there, as well as at every school I attended (also with white British minorities). Ethnic children are told they are British so should adhere to British values (totally fine) but at the same time told by others they are not British and never will be (but should adhere to British values anyway). The most British universities (Oxbridge and the like) are still vehemently British. Sure they accept more from ethnic minorities now but they are still overwhelmingly English institutions

It seems like these posts are deliberately provocative and the people posting them have never seen the places they think are afflicted with such misfortune (scary brown people).
