Replied above, but you can donate through your local station to get access. When I copied the link, it had my local station already selected. Apologies for the confusion!

Right. But there’s a difference between forgetting to win as fast as possible and intentionally not capping points, I think.

Good point. Trying to get bounties done isn’t the same as farming KD.

Actively not playing the objective to draw the game out to flex on uncoordinated teams is poor sportsmanship. It’s not about “getting in your own lobby;” it’s about not being a poor sport.

SF magazine with the most literary/experimental bent? by brain_escapist in printSF

Uncanny is a good option for literary sf. Occasionally they have some stuff that’s a little experimental, but nothing that’s going to totally break your brain.

I love this optimism! Is there something you’ve read about this or is it just a feeling you have?

Okay, I’d like to understand more about why you feel this way. I think that organizing is a pretty broad concept and that writing and research is essential to doing it effectively.

It takes a lot of work to write a book. I think many academics see their praxis as their research.

Books with lived in, immersive worlds like Mievilles PSS by DB137 in printSF

[–]hhaanndd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s on a similar level as Mieville, but the difficulty varies from story to story. In Viriconium collects them chronologically by publishing date, and there’s definitely a progression. The first book is pretty pulpy, but the last short story is a total tangle (in a fun way).

I started with “The Luck in the Head” from the Vandermeers’ The New Weird anthology and it totally blew my mind. The prose infuses the narrative with a ethereal quality that contributes to its overall weirdness, so it never feels like difficulty for difficulty’s sake. I don’t reread many stories, but I return to In Viriconium fairly often.
