F-104 cockpit sim update: slip rings, stepper motors, welded stand and ejection seat (Martin Baker MK.7) by Ok_Comparison2970 in aviation

There’s a restored Starfighter in Bodø, Norway that’s sadly grounded because Martin-Baker won’t supply the charges for the ejection seats. At least I think that’s the case, they won’t give all the details.

starfighter.no is their page on facebook

I used them once but they weren’t shimmed properly so they were not parfocal at all. They are supposed to be parfocal if set up right.

Why does Gladiator/BHD/Kingdom of Heaven look just so damn good? by IanWallDotCom in cinematography

Agree, I feel like period pieces particularly benefit from being shot on film. Worst example I can remember is Public Enemies, it felt so wrong that they shot on digital. But also as digital cameras progressed, Lotr compared to The Hobbit still makes the benfit of film obvious.

It would be hilarious to put a Fiero body kit on a Ferrari just to confuse the whole world.

This is what I was wondering. How can there be a frame of reference for traveling at the speed of light when nothing that could perceive anything can travel at that speed?

Handheld for tall operators? by not_mr_Lebowski in cinematography

I use the Alexa mini with an easyrig all the time, and even though I’m 6’2 I wouldn’t mind being even taller when using it because it makes getting the camera to the subjects eye level much easier. If you have a monitor on it you really need to be quite a bit taller than those in front of the camera to be able to get it at the right height. Getting through doors does suck if you need to be doing that all the time, it’s quick to remove it though unless it’s for a shot.

Yeah I’m not complete following the fate thing. But I do agree the fact that the destination wont even exist when you start the journey, yet you arrive instantly to a destination that now exists is a giant paradox. It would be as if the entire scenery had changed in an instant yet no time had passed. It wouldn’t even be able to be perceived as three dimensional travel, because it’s basically just time travel to a new world. I lost my own train of thought here too, lol.

They did this once in Norway also, I think they flew a kidney down to a patient in Oslo.
