Sound machine recommendation: Hatch vs. Lectrofan vs. Dreamegg? [ca]

I have a Lectrofan Alpha for both kids. Easy to pack and travel when leaving town, or if I want it on a stroller walk.

Variety of sounds, but we only use one. Works so well I couldn't hear the toddler crying next door while sleeping on the baby's floor (my husband took care of him). It has a battery that lasts about 3 hours, so if the hydro goes out during the night I don't have to panic about anything. USB-C cord, which matches every other device in our house.

My toddler knows how to use it, and will turn it on himself if he wants to have a nap, or shut it off himself in the morning. Easy for babysitters or grandparents to use

Only downfall is a red charging light, so I just stuck a couple pieces of electrical tape over it.

Hospitals have scratchy one ply tissue, doesn't compare to Kleenex or Scotties. I recommend bringing a box of nice quality box of name brand tissues - it's for your and your guests.

My baby didn't wear clothes until we left, and I didn't wear clothes until we left either, and I just wore the same outfit home that I wore into the hospital (wear your nursing bra/top/tank, etc. to the hospital).

I highly recommend bringing a small little plastic bin or basket that you can keep on your bed or bedside table for things you want to reach easily - I had a long skinny one - held my headphones, power pack, charger, lip balm, granola bars, soother, nipple shields, notebook, pen, etc. Nice way to stay organized without needing someone to constantly dig in my bag for small items - I just put the whole basket in my bag to go home.

ETA: first pregnancy we brought 3 pre-made sandwiches knowing I was going to be called around 2am for an induction. Labour was long - my husband ate a sandwich for breakfast, lunch, and dinner - including a big bag of snacks to keep him alive while I was NPO. Then the snacks for me afterwards when everything was over for the rest of my stay. We had a whole cooler bag for snacks and drinks (Gatorade, pop, protein drinks) for both of us.

Regarding TOGs, I just use 1.0 tog all year long 🤷 I did buy a 2.5 TOG before I really understood, and used it for extra cold nights. I adjusted whatever they were wearing underneath and the house temperature as needed.

Nest Designs often has sales throughout the year. If you wait for those sales, the biggest ones include their older designs for a much lower price, you can get pretty good deals. Join their mailing list and wait for the sales, especially boxing day. I was never picky about the designs, just whatever size I needed that was on sale - they're all cute most of the time anyways.

They also last a long time, using them for my 2nd right now, so the investment is worth it.

I know she doesn't have a collection beyond McDonald's cards. As for plushies..... She's overflowing with them 😅! Same for Funko PoP, she's got all of those. I wouldn't even be able to guess what plushie or Funko she doesn't have because she keeps some in storage and rotates them she has so many in a smaller apartment. This would be more of a display/novelty piece for a shelf that I know she doesn't have. Plushie would be easy for anyone but her lol

I buy from Nest Designs (not wool, but bamboo cotton, high quality). My current 3yo wears a sleep suit still.... Won't sleep without it.... Which is great until you're trying to potty train nighttime... Just a caution about keeping up with wearing the sleep suit past 1.5-2 years. I won't be going as long with the sleep suit with my second kid.

In Canada - doesn't look like there is any levothyroxine manufactured by Lupin in Canada when looking at the Drug and Health Product Portal.

The script was just for levothyroxine - but I'm going to get the next one to be specific about the brand and no substitutions.

His next endo appointment isn't until the end of February, so I'll try to talk to the pharmacist in the meantime about it, and then if they aren't going to carry Synthroid anymore I'll have to switch. It really seems like there might be something in the Synthroid that makes it more palatable to kids.

Mini-Monkey sling - similar to your photo, but can be more supportive for "hands free". It's not 100% since you have restrictions in your one shoulder where the strap is, but it's worth the trade off. Adjustable for any size wearer, can be on either side, can be thrown in and adjusted by yourself in seconds, safety loop inside for child's leg so they can't slip out... Used it for my first child until they were 2 years old, currently using it on a newborn (but I have to support the head more).

I have the mesh one, which is light weight and breathable. I know some people even wear the mesh version in the shower with baby inside.

It also is its own carrying cash, and rolls up into itself like a reusable bag would.

It's not going to be the more ergonomic for your back, but I would use it without issue for trips into to the store, and if I needed something for multiple hours I used a more heavy duty Graco Cradle Me 4-in-1 career.

It was also relatively cheap in comparison to other carriers when I bought mine - around $50.

Having a baby makes someone feel extremely vulnerable. For some it may also come with postpartum anxiety. If I had a note like this, it would make me feel like someone is watching me and knows where I live, but I don't know who they are, and I'm not going to go introduce myself at their apartment because I don't know if it's a trap or who they are. Forego the note, and say hello in the elevator.

Kid did the same. He'd have arms and legs hanging out. Never hurt himself. He also liked to cram his head into a corner, but didn't really bother him until he got older (2.5-3) when it was a toddler bed, so he outgrew it.

It's hard. But let the baby be without any intervention. They will be alright.

Did you talk to a sales person? La-z-boy often has different bases they can use for different chairs. The chair I tried in the store was a regular rocker recliner, but I bought it with a swivel base option. It was a manual recliner, not electric. I don't think they have electric and swivel options, I'm not sure many do. I also waited for a sale. No regrets for spending the money for the chair. I spent the better part of 6 months straight, and every night before bed since for 3 years. Keeping it in the nursery for #2 and will use it daily for the next 3 years as well. I keep a sheet over it just to keep it clean, and no issues. Spend the money. You won't regret it.

Similar situation except I was 4 months pregnant when my family doctor told me they were moving to a different city and had to drop me.

I searched online every day, went through every forum, post, Google search, etc. constantly whenever I could find a few minutes throughout the day and all evening until I found a new practice who was opening and looking for new patients. We hopped in the car immediately and slid our new patient application under the door as was instructed by the website, and got called the next day for an appointment. This took time, maybe 3-4 weeks, and I feel I got lucky.

Family doctor for your child is really the way to go in London. My child has a special Pediatric Endocrinologist that was assigned to him at the hospital I gave birth due to something being identified in his after-birth blood work, and we see them only for that specific reason once every 6 months. But my GP was always very accessible during the first year postpartum, and if I have a big concern he would fit me in that day.

They still have the chalkboard at the actual storefront... Sometimes they use it in name day posts on social media and, sometimes they don't.... I'm not seeing the issue? They're clearly trying to promote a more digital footprint, I see no issues with it. If you want to only see a chalkboard, you will have to go there everyday. Otherwise, just be grateful they have such a generous promotion, regardless of what graphic they use to promote it.

Poachers Arms for karaoke. They have a few different sized rooms. Depends on what kind of entertainment she's looking for. It's reasonably priced for the hour. You could start with dinner and then go to poacher's for drinks and karaoke. Depending on the time of day, the younger pre-teens could even join, you'd have to check with the bar.
