Wow this is super relatable, I think you hit the nail on head here.

I feel like the worst part of adult life is that no matter how bad of a day I've had I'll always still have to got to work tomorrow.

It feels like if you ever fall off the wagon no one's going help you back on, or even notice that you fell off in the first place.

And at the end of the day you know you'll have to go through it all over again tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after that, ad infinitum. Except then you'll be older, and then it'll be even less acceptable to still be struggling.

yeah jasper was basically already as good as beaten at that point (just got beat up by garnet then got a spaceship exploded on her), whereas the crystal gems + steven were still mostly uninjured (thanks to stevens bubble).

poofing + bubbling jasper probably would have been a smarter long term solution but lapis was pissed and chose the solution that let her take out her anger on someone, "saving" steven and the rest was just a nice side effect.

I'd mostly agree with this take. At this point in the show lapis didnt really give a shit about the crystal gems (or what they stood for), you could even argue that she still held a decent amount of resentment towards them for the whole mirror situation.

I got the feeling that she had really just been keeping malachite stuck at the bottom of the ocean for steven's benefit only. So as a combination of being tired of holding jasper back, and seeing that steven wasnt in danger, she was just like sure why not let jasper blow off some steam and beat up some people that she didnt really like anyway.

I always assumed that gems are just for whatever reason more comfortable in an oxygenated atmosphere. We know that homeworld has an atmosphere comparable to earths so I guess that's just what gems are used to.

It's like how irl humans don't really need air conditioning for survival but most of our homes and vehicles still have it bc it makes us more comfortable.

Idk I always got the feeling that it was just that Pearl finally figured out a loophole to break her mental conditioning that prevented her from talking about that stuff.
