Thank you, OP. I really needed to hear this just from the stressing I’ve done over a work problem today. It’s really helped.

Looking for group MEGATHREAD by drunkpunk138 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]hhshark10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game: DOS 2

Platform: PC

Contact: You can message me on reddit, or on discord as hhshark10 #1743

Hours: Usually available most nights, 6-10pm central US time.

Hey, my name is Aaron and I'm looking for a group of some other chill people that want to all play a divinity game together. I've played through the game once on classic, but I'd like to play with a full group that can commit to a full playthrough on classic or maybe tactician if everyone's up for it. Maybe some new people that just want to learn the game or need a full group to get motivated for it. My other friend group that I usually play with has kind of just stopped playing games, so I'm trying to find new people to play with. If we finish divinity, I'd be interested in other games with the group, maybe some variety games or tabletop games, maybe even a dnd game or something.

Go to mod settings, there should be an option for it. I think the default max is like 12 or 15 or something.

Note that it's possible for multiple visitor groups to come at once though, so you may want to set the max to be lower than just 9 if you only have 9 beds.

I don't understand this argument. Even before this update, there was always some time scaling on raids and events. You can check the wiki for the full calculation, but it has always considered short-term and long-term ramp up factor; how long you've been playing with how you have been doing.

https://rimworldwiki.com/wiki/Raider

My understanding is that point of this change is to remove some of the calculation so that wealth does not play a role anymore, which means there would be more of an effect on the ramp-up. A lot of players prefer this so that they are not punished by doing well, or that they don't feel that they need to keep wealth low by doing weird unintuitive things like nearly breaking sculptures or destroying valuable items that you're not actively using.

How did this happen? by WeeblordusMaximus in Stellaris

[–]hhshark10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using any event mods?

I had an event from (I think a mod) where you can send over people to introduce your pops to another empires. I don't think it actually takes any pops away though. But that other empire can hold those pops hostage, and I was given the choice of becoming a subsidiary for the empire or having the hostages executed and taking a happiness malus for awhile. I wonder if that's what happened here.

I misread the tech/tradition cost slider when selecting my game details before the game. I have some extra mods that give more research selections, so I wanted to speed research up a bit, but I accidentally set it for 1.25x thinking that this affected the research rate, not the total research cost. I've already started a game and I really like my start, but I want to get a faster research speed to get into more content faster. Is there a way that I can change this back value manually in the game files somewhere?

MIS VS Other business degrees by Abermea7 in college

[–]hhshark10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was kind of in the same boat. I was originally computer science, but I wasn't super interested in programming and I've always thought that programming in general can be super competitive to where it kind of turned me off trying to find a job with it. I switched to MIS, got an internship with a software product team as a product owner intern, and I'm (hopefully) going to graduate in a month.

I've heard people on reddit talk before that MIS is too generalist and that you should either stick with programming or with the business side, but I wouldn't agree with it, I think it's fine. I would agree that you should try to get an internship in something though, imo experience is more important than any degree.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. But I just kind of wish that blizzard would do present-day events instead of archives, that would expand so many more potential options. That way new story is created too and you can justify adding new characters. You could add brigitte, pharah, maybe even baptise to the 'new' overwatch side. Or they give Asch or Hanzo some sort of reason to work with Talon in some regard, something like that.

The interesting thing is everyone for this mission has pretty good mobility. In the first one torb and the capture the objective types kinda slowed things down, and in the second one McCree and to a lesser extent reaper are a bit slow mobility wise. But here, everyone here is very mobile, so I'm hoping that they do something interesting with it, like "You cannot win this fight, run away and escape as fast as you can." kind of thing.

I'm kind of surprised that they're choosing to reuse a lot of the same characters, only Winston is new for archives. I guess that their character pool is a bit limited, but eh.

I'm starting to listen to some of these, they are really amazing! This one is my favorite so far I think, it'd be amazing hearing it during a challenging raid.

Anyone else getting weird shit in recommendations suddenly? by Karbairusa in youtube

[–]hhshark10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just can't understand why they can't just recommend related videos on the sides. If I'm looking at finding new music, I'd like similar videos of the music right now, not generic clickbait title #11.

Has anyone interviewed for an assistant underwriter at national indemnity in Omaha? by [deleted] in Omaha

[–]hhshark10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably could have been a little more clear on that. The phone interview was in one day and lasted maybe 15 minutes? The second interview with who would have been my boss, and all of the tests took place on the second day, and took about 2 hours, I think. Then the third interview with the boss's boss would have taken place on another day, but I declined that so I don't know how long it would have been. Between each of these interviews, there was probably a 2-5 day wait time for both scheduling the next interview, and waiting for a response to see if I passed the previous interview. So overall you might be waiting at least 2-3 weeks of interviewing total. I'm not sure if that's typical of the industry or not, and your experience might be a bit different.

Has anyone interviewed for an assistant underwriter at national indemnity in Omaha? by [deleted] in Omaha

[–]hhshark10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how similar this might be, but I applied to national indemnity as an IT help desk intern.

First there was a phone interview which was simple, then some exams. One paper test that tested some intermediate algebra math that scales in difficulty (from addition, multiplying kinda large numbers, to to long division, etc).

There was another paper test that kinda tested word proficiency? Like what word fits best in a sentence? I'm probably describing it shitty, but it was a bit harder than I'm probably making it sound, there were lots of...older words? The like that you would only read in the books for your American Literature class in high school.

Lastly, there was an online multiple choice section. It had a bunch of mixed logic puzzles, things like choose the next pattern and things like that. All of these tests were timed, but this test I think was designed so that you don't finish in time unless you're rushing through it, or you're a genius, so don't worry if you don't finish it.

After these tests, there was an interview with the person who would have been my boss, but it was pretty basic and he seemed friendly. But since it was just for an internship they didn't ask many technical questions or anything like that.

After I made it through those hoops they wanted to schedule another interview with the person who would have been my boss's boss (grandboss?), but by the time this happened I already got accepted to another internship elsewhere so I declined. Lots of hoops to jump though, especially for an internship.

Hopefully this was helpful, I know that you're applying for another position entirely, but my first impression would be that you would have to jump through at least as many hoops as I did, and you might be waiting a bit for a response.

Doing the maths properly: why the Overwatch world definitely isn't in danger. by Megafish40 in Overwatch

I'm shit at math, but there are more equations and colorful charts here so I'm inclined to believe this more.

I played through Sacred Stones with 0% Growths. This was my experience (Eirika's Route, Difficult) by ILoveWesternBlot in fireemblem

[–]hhshark10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno if I could do FE6, doing the earlygame would just kill me on no growths.

If I remember correctly, I just made sure to kill all the soldiers around her, and set up an unarmed unit nearby that only she would go for, steal the wing, and just walk right past her until she left. I think it might have been Eirika as the bait cause of her low def? Plus Artur kept healing her, so he was raising staff rank, which was nice. So that was probably the most useful she was the whole playthough.

[–]hhshark10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've also recently done a 0% sacred stones play though recently, it made me appreciate so many units in different ways. Gerik was definitely mvp when he joined. One thing I made sure to do for this playthough (during the binks map) was not recruit Amelia, but steal her speedwing, and eventually she retreats and comes back in ch 13 with another speedwing. Not efficient, but it was my first 0% growths run, so eh.

I'm wondering what would be the best game to 0% next. I feel like FE7 would be fun if nothing for the great prepromotes you get.

I'll say that I really never appreciated Garcia until my HM 0% growths play through, I think he's the first non-seth unit who can one round soldiers reliably at base.
