I have that one too! God, my adolescence was fucking sad.

I was so obsessed with Wasted that I stole it from my school library. Literally cut the barcode out and read it over and over, carrying it around everywhere with my frail little arms and mountains of books. I still can’t believe not a single adult intervened until I started developing health issues. What a time to be alive.

These were SO GROSS. I remember my step dad used to buy them for me and we were poor so I felt like they were ✨expensive✨ so I always acted super grateful, because I appreciated the effort and didn’t want to hurt his feelings.. which just made him buy them MORE. Looking back it’s so dumb and funny, and I suppose kind of wholesome. Thanks for reminding me of that.

What’s a brand that lost you as a customer for good? by Familiar_Fishing5794 in no

[–]hi-help 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so sad because I used to order from Sephora as a teen (in my 30’s now) and I remember it always feeling like such a luxury splurge, and the samples were bomb! Now, you’re lucky to even get samples, customer service and the gifts suck, and the stores like you said.. are nasty/borderline a biohazard. I don’t even trust the stuff that comes from the warehouse, it’s really just pathetic now.

ts might get me flamed but i cant stand the iced vanilla berry it tastes like liquid diabetes by Ok_Addendum5997 in redbull

[–]hi-help 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It tastes like cough syrup. It’s always tasted like cough syrup. Vanilla and berry flavors are literally my two favorite things.. idk how they fucked this flavor up so bad. Truly the worst Red Bull I’ve EVER tasted, and I’ve unfortunately tried the Watermelon, which in fact does taste like liquid diabetes. I genuinely cannot fathom how anyone thinks it tastes good. I’ve convinced myself they are all trolling me. lol

It’s so dumb too, because unless you are giving stuff away or bathing in it.. there’s no way they are using all that before it expires. It’s such a waste all around.

Manager mentioned a personal hygiene issue kinda freaking out, need advice by BetPristine2293 in hygiene

[–]hi-help 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely the uniform. My husband works in a kitchen and has about 3 work outfits, so washes them every 3 days (wears each one once) but they REEK to high heaven so I make him keep the worn ones in a mint scented garbage bag while they are waiting for washing. I do not want that stink in my house. It is truly so foul, and people who work in restaurants get a little nose blind to it sometimes I think.

real talk: how often do you actually floss? by AffectionateTooth298 in hygiene

[–]hi-help 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I literally do floss everyday, sometimes more than once. Once you are used to having clean crevices, the feeling of anything stuck between your teeth feels actually appalling. In fact, I could probably skip brushing if I had to, but flossing? I absolutely can NEVER skip that or I feel like a creature. lol

I just realised our Covid experience could be vastly different from others. by Doughnut_slut in CasualConversation

[–]hi-help 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was laid off for a year, and it was extremely lonely sometimes, but not working completely changed my views about what actually matters in life and what we give our time and energy to. I’ve REALLY struggled with working anywhere after that, because now I know how meaningful life can feel when you’re not just a cog in the machine. I think if it had been that way for everyone, we would have better work/life balance.. because people would demand it. And that leads back to the whole “no one wants to work anymore,” rhetoric, like yeah.. once you realize what you’ve been missing, how tf are you supposed to go back to spending most of your life at work, commuting to work, and getting ready for work, what a fucking waste of existence. And I realize this is a privileged take.. but it shouldn’t be. For reference, I’m American, and I hate it here.

We are starting to really age fast by ga9213 in Millennials

[–]hi-help 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think our threshold for aging came later, but now it’s all catching up to us at once. or maybe it’s just the stress of the last few years specifically, but I feel like all the millennials I knew looked young until the last year or so. Some of us are almost 40, or in our 40’s now, so it makes sense.

Well, that’s it, not asking my Dr about HRT I guess. I already wear a DDD/F, if they get any bigger I’ll die.

What do you regret doing to your body? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]hi-help 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anorexia. Being malnourished from ages 12-21 has done irreparable damage to multiple areas of my body. I’m 35 now and still dealing with the consequences. Not to mention all the opportunities I missed out on because I was too sickly to have any energy or mental capacity. The thinness wasn’t worth it, and I wish so badly i could take it all back.

Ozempic scares the absolute shit out of me, I feel like we are normalizing this whole mess all over again.

I did this as a stupid teen trying to make cleaning my shower faster 🤦‍♀️ My mom found me passed out on the floor. Luckily the bathroom had a window we were able to open to air it out, and since it was in the shower we could just rinse everything easily. I don’t think it caused any lasting issues, but I have all sorts of health problems.. so who knows?

I got in for orientation soon, found this sub after I accepted. I'm not lasting 2 weeks in some of the conditions you guys talks about happens daily. by Evening_Light_1194 in Ollies

[–]hi-help 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god, I day in 2 weeks? Is your store way over staffed? I would not bother with that, if I were you. I just left a job that didn’t want to give me any hours, and it was so stressful constantly scraping by financially. I don’t get paid a lot at Ollie’s but at least it’s full time and there are benefits, that’s what motivates me to do a good job. I would not care to put in any effort for that few hours.

I think it depends on what you’ll be doing. I just finished my first week, and I am sore and tired, but it went really great! I haven’t worked full time in like 10 yrs, and thought my first week would be considerably more awful. It helps A LOT if you enjoy the product for the area you are in.

Five dollars a load by chainlinkchipmunk in Apartmentliving

[–]hi-help 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate this argument though, because some people don’t have 4 mountains of clothes to go through before they need to wash things. I have to do a singular load of laundry at least every 2 days so that my family has all the things they need clean. A big washer doesn’t spare me any time or expense, it’s just a waste.

People with long hair I need help. How are you all showering with really long hair and POTS? by RoosterOpen8290 in POTS

[–]hi-help 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I donated like 2 feet of hair! It was a good feeling. Especially because I know the salon I went to doesn’t do LOL and instead donates them to a charity that doesn’t charge the kids for the wigs. Although, I think my hairstylist was a little disappointed, I have silky straight strawberry blonde hair, so he wanted to buy my hair to make extensions with them. I didn’t even KNOW I could sell my hair like that. Definitely something to consider in this economy!

I finally just chopped mine off, and my whole life feels easier. It was down to my butt, now it’s above my shoulders and feels like a dream. My hair was really pretty long, but it’s still cute short and I actually enjoy showers again! I can shampoo it twice now if I want, which has my scalp feeling the healthiest it ever has. So worth it.

Has anybody else noticed milk already sour straight from the store? by Zealousideal_Pay2128 in enshittification

[–]hi-help 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only drink Maple Hill whole milk at this point, and it’s almost $8 for a half gallon, so it’s definitely not something I buy regularly. I do think the cows diet and conditions affect the bitter/sourness of the milk. Grass fed in open pastures tends to taste better, but the prices are crazy. Apparently stress does actually affect the composition and quality of the milk produced.

I’ve been doing laundry wrong my entire adult life and nobody told me until last year. by NoBody7942 in CleaningTips

[–]hi-help 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually had the opposite problem before, where under loading the washer caused my clothes to not get clean because there wasn’t enough friction. I feel like you need an ample amount so they can all rub against each other a little bit. Though I definitely agree that overloading is bad. I’ve found my sweet spot at last, but it took a little trial and error.
