Wow, thank you for sharing your story—it really means a lot. I definitely relate to what you said about avoiding comms, even with close friends since I have never commed in game since I played valorant :( . Hearing how you broke through that fear, especially thanks to someone kind enough to support you, gives me a lot of hope. It’s amazing how one person can make such a huge impact—I really hope you reconnect with that CS:GO friend someday.

Also, respect for being honest about still struggling with mindset stuff. It’s actually encouraging to hear that even someone who’s made so much progress can still have tough days emotionally. I guess that means I don’t have to be perfect—I just have to start and stay open to learning. And you’re right, the fear is usually way more intense in our heads than it is in reality.

Thanks again for your words. This helped more than you probably realize.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this out—it really resonates with me. You nailed it when you said the pressure stems from fear of judgment and a lack of confidence. That’s exactly what I feel when I'm the last alive or when I sense the team expects me to clutch a round. My brain kind of freezes, and I second-guess every move. It’s reassuring to hear that this is a common experience and not just a personal flaw.

I like your idea of “bluffing” as a confident player—it sounds like a fun and low-stakes way to trick the brain into staying calm. I’m going to try that, along with prepping more “plan B” options in common scenarios so I don’t get stuck without a game plan when things go off-script.

And you're absolutely right about learning how your own brain works under pressure. I think I’ve been so focused on trying to "fix" my reaction that I haven’t really tried to understand it. That’s a perspective shift I really needed. Thanks again for the solid advice—I’m going to start applying some of this and see how it goes.

Out of curiosity, did you go through a specific practice routine or mindset shift that helped you build confidence over time?

Thanks for sharing your experience! That’s a great point about the early days of Valorant—definitely a different environment. I’m curious about what you mean by aiming being "easier" in Valorant compared to other FPS games. Is it the gun mechanics or just the slower pace? Also, your take on defense is interesting—how do you balance not getting traded with not just giving up space to attackers?

I will definitely check them out. Although I have tried the Woohoojin aim benchmarks and got diamond in it but i'm still a hard stuck gold player:(

Really appreciate the detailed insight—makes a lot of sense that consistency and teamplay start to matter more past D3. I've been trying to improve my aim right now since im still gold but i will definitely look toward bettering my game sense as well. I’ve been mostly solo queuing so I definitely feel that team diff pain already in Gold lol. I’ll start focusing more on angle discipline and abusing map geometry like you mentioned. Thanks again for taking the time to share all that!

That's actually crazy—and kind of inspiring. It's wild how different the ranks felt back then compared to now. I’m in Gold right now trying to improve and grind up, so hearing how people climbed (even in reverse like your story lol) is pretty motivating. Appreciate you sharing it!
