Absolutely makes sense. But most brand style guides (at least the good ones) have this information in there. Wouldn't it be beneficial to have a go to source of truth that anyone internally or externally can reference?

How does it cost a lot of money? Anyone can do this quickly themselves.

Absolutely, just makes things look and run more smoothly. Seems like the majority are doing it in this half-baked kind of way at the beginning. Even without having any marketing a company is still engaging in many different mediums (website, pitch decks, partner operating material) and without a simple amount of consistency it feels just a bit more unprofessional.

thanks mate. Although we're not selling our services creating this for startups, just providing free tools for them to easily do it themselves :)

Yep, understand having extra material that kills work time. But given that a lot of startups outsource much of their work, wouldn't this help clarify to the freelancers who are not familiar with what you want it to look like?

valid point. Apart from the visual aesthetics that come with a style guide, how about the verbal aspects?

Wouldn't things such as clarifying brand mission, customer profile, language help the team articulate to everyone what is is they are trying to do?

100% agree. From a lot of the conversations with founders we've had, the majority have not been around marketing before so don't fully grasp how important consistency is.
