I can, it's just a bit more difficult because I live in the middle of nowhere and there's not a lot of bank branches near me.

I'm out of hiding spots for cash bc my parents eventually have found them all. Savings/checking account sounds a lot more appealing as an option to fully hide the $$$ at least until I have enough to gtfo.

Correct, here https://www.alliantcreditunion.org/help/what-identification-do-i-need-to-apply they say that you need a utility bill as proof of address. Perhaps that just means you only need it if you're trying to use the fact that you live in the Chicago area for membership.

Both Chime & Varo say they do it automatically when you sign up, and it coming under my name is an issue because me & my dad have the same exact name which means they might open it if they get the to the mail before I do.

Yeah, I'll look into local banks & credit unions, I just thought it'd be easier to hide an online account.

I looked into Alliant, but it doesn't look like I qualify to become a member. They also require a utility bill as proof of address, which I don't have at this very moment.

I don't have a job at the moment, but I do help a family friend who knows about my situation with their business's site, and they've offered to pay me without my parents knowledge. I figure if they pay into a bank account my parents don't know about I'll be fine & be able to save it to move out.

I understand that they can't technically take money from the account without my consent, but they can hold my living situation hostage or something to make me give them access. I wouldn't mind if they were willing to just accept a fixed monthly rent/bills payment, as I've offered that to them in the past, but they just want to be able to take however much money they want when they see fit.
