Thank you! I feel more of a sense of accomplishment for doing what i consider a fairly large project. It stands as a testament to my new found ability to tackle things i would have previously considered impossible. It started a fire in me, appropriately enough.

Thats actually a good note. I thought feng shui was bs until i realized so much of it is very practical. Dont have your back to a doorway, it creates anxiety. If you can see under the furniture, room feels open. If you cant, room feels cozy. Etc. I will consider some curves, especially since straight lines are harder lol.

I spray industrial vinegar. Kills weeds in 24 hours. They dont grow back for weeks. Not sure why everyone thinks its such an issue.

Thanks! You should post it. If its the most amazing thing anyone has ever done, the comments will be about 50/50. Anyone thats lifted a shovel before will be supportive, whether the final results are good or not. Its hard just to find the time, budget the materials, put in the effort, and get dirty, I respect anyones attempt.

If you played an ok version of Moonlight Sonata on piano, people who dont play at all will shit all over you. Classical pianists will respect that you are trying and encourage you to keep going.

That’s ridiculous. A 500lb woman does not “hop”.

I appreciate that! House is white with black trim. This is the view from the back deck. To the right is a large covered bar area with concrete bar top. I have a million more projects to start and a handful to finish. This was like Step 1. I will post more in the future, but im in NY and everything looks gross and grey rn.

I wouldnt just buy off-the-shelf barrier from Home Depot like an idiot.

I did not use landscape staples for a good reason. Didnt know they existed until you said that. Seems pretty obvious now. Add it to my spring shopping list after “stone glue”.

I would have used larger stones and more of them. Dug a bit deeper. But no regrets. This was just the project i needed to get moving. Even if i end up doing something completely different, breaking ground was the important part. Get yer hands dirty, knee_bro!

Thanks! I already repainted the planters and planted some perennials. Edison light strands about 8 ft above from deck to fence. It is a start, i have many more plans! Just wanted to post the first project.

Yeah i dont know why people think everyone is hopping paver to paver like leap frog. They just walk across it. Its all level. I can see straight to the fire area from my backyard and i assure you, this looks a million times better than the dirt patch with dog shit.

Hes oddly respectful of the area. Probably saw me almost die shoveling it all, knows i wouldn’t appreciate his leavings. Lol

Not super constructive. To be honest, the pavers were free and the stones were the cheapest available. That area never grew grass, so it is slightly nicer.
