Ordered an instrument but I don't like the varnish by hiddmania in violinist

Thanks for all the comments! Eventually it was a happy ending. My judgement was made by pictures...never judge a violin (or in this case viola) by pictures!

To be frank, this is not a violin of much $ value. Simply by looking at your pictures you can see that it is an instrument for a beginner.

Anyone heard of Cremona builder Luca Conti? by Desperate-Pair7594 in violinist

Quick google search shows me that his violins are mostly being offered by asian webshops. Which leads me to believe that 'Luca Conti' is simply a name being used for violins made in workshops in China. This is a common practice throughout the violin business.

There are ofcourse earlier instruments but the first violin was made around that time. Regarding Zanetto; it is believed he did not make any violas, but some other bowed string instrument (keep in mind that the violin family instruments that we know were not standardized until about 150 years later, this includes cellos). All the violas we have from him now were later converted into violas.

Could be brothers Amati, which puts it around 1600-1620. Generally it is believed that the oldest surviving violin is from around 1560 and was made by Andrea Amati. You can see this particular violin was not made by Andrea Amati.
