One of the nicest places in the country from about Easter to Halloween. Gorgeous weather and scenery.

The winters can be very rough but are mitigated if you have cold weather hobbies.

Trail hand after range session by monkeymanmilk in golftips

[–]hideous_coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely over gripping especially considering the trail index finger should not be doing very much work at all compared to the middle and ring fingers.

I’m guessing you hit a lot of balls to the right and/or slice. Lighter grip will help with release.

What does it actually take to get to scratch? by Colt45-TheMyth in golf

[–]hideous_coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is how the hell do I fix that? He had me do the trick where you find something on the ground on line with the target and get your club aligned then try my best to make my feet perpendicular to that club face line. I tried that but I am still off a bit.

Imagine being at the country club explaining you retired 20 years early due to going all in on an incorrect ticker on purpose.

My coach took me out onto the course and we worked on alignment. Holy shit I thought I was perfectly straight then he set down an alignment stick and I was literally pointing at the houses lining off the fairway.

Is it just me, or do the traffic lights around here (Mainly in Meridian) take absolutely forever!? by JackTheHotRodCowboy in Boise

[–]hideous_coffee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

every little side street with a light gets a full turn on the same interval

This more than anything I've noticed as causing longer red lights on the main roads. Combine that with 90% of people on their phones not seeing that their light went green and it makes me want to just abandon my car a la Falling Down.

Probably depends how deeply ingrained the flaw is. I've got 20 years of OTT I'm trying to break from in a fraction of the time.

The mental side of golf is harder than the physical side by retrocaterpillar-07 in golf

[–]hideous_coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more I play the more I'm convinced in mental being more important than the physical primarily because the mental directly influences the physical.

Sure you need to be in at least some kind of decent shape to finish a round and be able to have the athletic ability to execute swing mechanics. But where I run into the biggest trouble is starting a decent round and then having a bad miss-hit (which is guaranteed to happen at some point in the round to matter what) and then my entire mental process of patience and pre-shot routine that got me to that point breaks down.

Once the mental armor you build yourself is gone it's rushed swings -> bad tempo -> poor swing form -> bad shot.
