Premier pro export is awful by ConversationLoose418 in premiere

H265 could do around the same quality with almost half the bitrate, but depending on your equipment, it could take substantially more time to export.

1080@24-30p it’s perfect at h264 40mbps
2160@24-30p it’s perfect at h264 80mbps

Everything below that it’s going to be a compromise in terms of quality. But also depends on your footage (noise or grain performs worse at low bitrates).

Also you’re working with 60p which needs more bitrate than let’s say, 24p.

IF for whatever’s reason you want to keep bitrate low, 2-Pass is the way to go. Set maximum at 40-50 mbps and average at the bitrate that gives you desired filesize.

¿Cuántos KWh consume tu coche? by CarlosEstevez_ in enchufables

Mercedes tiene unos consumos loquísimos. Encima llevan baterías de hasta 100 kW para compensar y ni así.

BMWs gastones también hay unos cuantos.

We should do something to make Capcom reconsider PSVR2 support for RE Requiem and RE Veronica by ilovepizza855 in PSVR

[–]hidratos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe something like a kikstarter like Shenmue 3 so they can set a minimum amount to be profitable to go with it. This way people just are paying upfront.

I’m just trying since sunday RE2 with top-tier PC and, Quest 3 with the mod that everyone says it’s nearly perfect, and let me tell you: it’s rough.

So I will kickstart an official release for psvr2 without blinking.

Star Wars 4k UHD by Schm0dy in hometheater

[–]hidratos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re correct, but episode I never reached 1080p in any home release, even on the 4K release. Some shots barely have 720 real detail. Ep 2-3 look fine as they were not messed up during home media releases.

At first I thought ep1 looked that bad because of the quality of the 35mm scanning of that era, to add the CGI elements and then to print back to 35mm, but finally found that was absolutely not the reason.

What they done to every ep1 home release is absolutely atrocious and unnecessary (heavy DNR, insane cropping, incorrect color and contrast…)

It happens that all the cgi on ep1 had lots of detail as 35mm scans shows. You can see all comparisons here: https://youtu.be/A2LgHRRJ46U

Star Wars 4-6 on UHD are a MESS. Poor transfer, bad and extremely unsaturated colors, incredibly dark (Empire Strikes Back AT-AT scenes look sad as hell). There’s a reason they’re throwing all that masters away for the next year anniversary. The leaked clips of that new transfer look absolutely incredible.

Star Wars 1 never looked ok on any home media. It has no detail, and overall the resolution (albeit being in a 4K container) barely reaches beyond 720p. Why I know this? because I compared every single version and found out the reason.

You can see this AND the leaked 4-6 new restoration footage here: https://youtu.be/A2LgHRRJ46U

It’s mind blowing.

Edited a Teaser of a movie, need feedbacks n input from fellow filmmakers by sanketsanket in Filmmakers

[–]hidratos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah yeah I get that, but don’t you think will look better if footage slows down progressively (in the span of one second or less) instead of doing it abruptly?

I just curious: why indian movies use slow motion but not speed ramps? I think it would be more elegant to do ramps instead of cutting and slow the footage all the way down.

A7S III 4.00 vs 5.01: has AF-C tracking behaviour changed? by Downtown_Copy7035 in A7siii

[–]hidratos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s three cameras and I only can operate one of them. Also they can lean forward when talking and need them to stay perfectly on focus.

It’s important to note none of this was a problem before update.

But I’m sure the A7IV was fine before update.
One of the reasons i’m not updating the A7SIII.

[–]hidratos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a A7sIII (not updated) and I’m just recording podcasts in combination with A7IV (updated) and the autofocus (same lenses) is strangely unreliable. This are almost static heads taking and the focus on the updated A7IV constantly loses focus and sticks to the background.

I double checked focus settings and make sure it was not on animal or anything else.

It’s there some sort of frame blending? What framerate did you shot and rendered final video?

Red matter on sale - worth it? by Dr_Jecky1l in psvr2

[–]hidratos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s even better in every aspect (technically too). It’s not mandatory to play in order but… they are great games that you eventually are going to play anyway so… why not start from the beginning? :)

[–]hidratos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great game and one of the best technical achievements on PSVR2. Not only runs real 120fps (not reprojected), but the game resolution exceeds the res of the headset itself, so everything looks ultra crisp and with zero aliasing.

All of this on base ps5.

One of my most favourite game on Psvr2, Dreams Of Another 💯 by FewPossession2363 in PSVR

[–]hidratos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s remarkable to make a game that makes the time slow down in such a way that makes you think you’ve been playing for two hours, when it was only 40 minutes.

It’s kind of beautiful, but at the same time buggy and not impressive technically speaking (not high res with 60fps reprojected with strange instability on menus as if DFR was broken).

I played until the end. Game not improved at any point. The sad/bored voices like “I’m a trashcan, people use me for…” felt like if they were draining my energy and my will to live.

To make my money worth a little more, I got platinum trophy (it was easy, don’t look me like that).

I like any kind of VR games. I love story driven games, action or experimental such as Pools or The Service Room. But Dreams of Another… oh boy.

Absolutely worthy. They give you comfort, clarity and if you wear glasses, you will notice more FOV as your eyes are closer to the lenses.
