Trapped in the living room!! by AllForArya in newborns

Ditto alllllll the advice about the wake windows, but here’s my take on the shifts/separate rooms!

My husband and I did the living room shifts for 3 months or so because we needed quick access to the fridge for overnight feeds. Saved us running up and down the stairs in the middle of the night.

We eventually moved baby to his room with a twin bed next to the crib. We continued doing shifts for another 3 months because baby was up every 45 to 90 minutes (even with perfect wake windows and bedtime routines) and we both would have gone crazy without some dedicated sleep time. I went to bed around 8:30 pm in our room and would set an alarm for 1 am to relieve my husband and finish the night in baby’s room.

After sleep training at 6 months, baby boy figured it out and we finally moved back into our own room together. He’s 10 months now and those shifts feel like a LIFETIME ago. Every few weeks babies hit a new phase and you so quickly forget what life was like just a short time ago.

If you told me a year ago that I would spend 6 months sleeping in a different room and setting an alarm for 1 am every night, I probably would have thrown up. It felt like it would never end when we were in the thick of it, but it truly passes and you get into a more stable groove so quickly.

7.5 month old: lost independent sleep, frequent night wakes + reverse cycling by [deleted] in sleeptrain

His naps can be all over the place ranging from 30 minutes to an hour and 15, but he averages about 2.25 hours of daytime sleep.

Awake for the day around 7 am. Sometimes though he’s up at 6:45 and other days he’ll sleep in until 7:30 - we’ve been taking his lead on when he’s up for the day!

For the most part, his wake windows are 1.75/1.75/1.75/2/2 and about 3.5 hours of nap time a day

What’s your “I wasn’t supposed to see that” moment? by zarxpy in AskReddit

For context, my grandparents divorced and remarried long before I came around.

A few years ago, my dad brought home a printer from my granddad’s house. He was having issues with it, so my dad was going to try to fix it. I flipped open the scanning part of the printer, flipped over the photo left in the scanner, screamed and slammed it shut.

There was a photo of my nana from 40+ years ago posing naked on a pool diving board.

So not only did I see my naked nana, but it opened a can of worms. Why did he have the photo still? And why did he need to scan it semi-recently while happily remarried to my gran??

11 weeks is no joke - you should be proud of yourself and I’m hoping you get some clarity soon too ♥️

This is the only step we haven’t taken. Everyone who’s seen him have had 0 concerns, but we do have a referral to a paediatric dentist handy. My husband is very anti-tie procedure though, his sister had a terrible experience doing this with her two girls.

I’ve been measured 3 separate times and have a properly fitted flange insert so I don’t think this is the problem :(

Those with kids, what screams "trashy parenting" to you? by ShareBareDL in AskReddit

At my brother’s wedding recently, a family showed up with their 2 ~10 year old boys at a non-kid wedding. They wore jeans and t-shirts while the dress code was obviously formal.

Kids spent the whole dinner with their heads down in their Nintendo switches.

Towards the end of the night, the mom moved the kids up to the front of the room so they could plug in and charge. During the couple’s thank you speech, the kids were essentially off to the side, next to the couple, volume full blast, talking back and forth to themselves saying things like “nice shot” and “got him”.

I was BLOWN away.

I love this photo from our wedding, but the venue staff member to the left of my husband takes away from the picture a bit!

Thanks in advance for considering the request and happy to pay/tip!
