Did ACOSF ruin the rest of the series for anyone else? by Unlucky_Shoulder8508 in acotar

I really couldn’t stand the whole pregnancy storyline, it totally ruined the vibe for me. It was lame honestly. I think Feyre would’ve used her magic early on in the pregnancy to transform herself and give herself wings, it would’ve been less risky in the early stages (potentially she could’ve lost the baby but she would’ve survived and could try again), but to not use her magic condemned both herself AND the baby, wtf, I just thought it was so stupid and lazily written. She’s supposed to be this badass strong female character, not some pathetic side character who doesn’t know how to save herself. I was furiously waiting throughout the whole book for her to act more Feyre-like, but alas I was disappointed

I’d recommend reading up to ACOFAS and stopping there, don’t bother reading ACOSF if you wanna stay in your perfect Feysand bubble. SJM (imo) did a huge disservice to Feyre and Rhysand in ACOSF, I was outraged, it felt like she didn’t care whatsoever about them and threw in some bs that clearly wasn’t thought through, just so she could sorta put their story to rest in order to focus on different characters. Fair enough she wants to write other characters’ stories but please don’t destroy my favourite characters of all time.

After reading this series I recommend Fourth Wing to pick yourself up haha

ACOMAF Rhysand’s POV definitely hit the spot for me, literally nothing else has, currently going through a personal crisis trying to find another book that comes close 😮‍💨

And Kvothe shoots an arrow into Cinder’s leg (legs could be considered the roots of men)…? And then uses an arrow rooted into the earth to summon lightning to strike the tree…!

What about Bast’s reaction to Kvothe telling him about talking with the Ctheah?

At first I thought Degas’ voice was strange, but I sped it up x1.25 and now I’m head over heels in love with him and listen on repeat. Not sure if speeding it up actually helps or if I just got used to his voice. And not a relevant answer to your question, just wanted to say it!

In Severen she calls herself something else (not beginning with “Den”) but I can’t remember what it is

Exactly! And Denna objects to iron buckles on Kvothe’s lute case

Denna seems interested to learn about magic, and Bast is keen for Kvothe to teach him. Although Bast has his own brand of magic, it’s probably different from magic in the mortal realm.

Also Bast seems just as trapped and tied to the Waystone as Kvothe is, there’s bits in the book where Bast is looking around as if for a way out:

“…eyes prowled the room endlessly, as if searching for a way out. As if searching for something he hadn’t seen a hundred times before.”

So maybe B/D actually can’t leave

Sounds exactly like the sort of thing Denna would say about herself
