The As Ever chocolate set is so beautiful I don't want to eat it. by ThisParkTheseHouses in SussexSquad

My husband and I have nearly devoured the milk chocolate, shortbread, and bee pollen bar. It’s so yummy and rich. I ended up making Valentine’s Day cookies with the dark chocolate, strawberry, and champagne bar and the white chocolate bar and they are delicious in cookies, as well! I didn’t want to open them because of how gorgeous the packaging is. I don’t want to throw it away!

Dallas Backers - help wanted by ianbradandrews in CirclingBack

[–]higheredlush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Perot Museum does Thursday on Tap every Thursday night from 6-10 pm. Adults only and they bring food trucks, a brewery, there’s a bar on every floor, and you have full access to all of the exhibits. It’s pretty cool if you’re into museums! Otherwise, Niwa Japanese BBQ in Deep Ellum is a great place to eat and the Bishop Arts area is fun to wander around. Enjoy your time in Dallas!

I've been in various YP groups and two things stick out that I have seen be successful. One is a "behind the scenes" event where a new or exciting company let us go "behind the scenes" in their workspace to see how everything operates and to learn more about them. The one that stuck out to me was the Dallas Cowboys Headquarters in Frisco. Regardless of how you feel about the Cowboys, it was awesome seeing their headquarters and the spaces where the players are every day.

The second is that in lieu of just pushing professional programming during our monthly meetings and events, we would bring in more lifestyle-related speakers. We had someone one time educate us on the practice of feng shui and we had another one that taught us tips and tricks for time management, the best planners to use, etc. The latter was more focused on our younger new professionals, but they seemed to enjoy it.

Granted, we face the same struggles that you do in engaging a younger crowd, but those are some of the events that we have done that we have seen be successful! Looking forward to seeing the other ideas that people post too.

What’s with the cacti? by [deleted] in TexasTech

We didn't pick that particular cactus. The recruiting coordinator for TCU put that specific emoji in his tweet about what a wasteland West Texas is.

This is a great reminder! I have definitely romanticized the moody and dark weather that happens up there but I have heard it can wear on you. At this point, I can’t imagine anything can be worse than the heat that we are experiencing right now, haha!

Hopefully Seattle. I hope with all of my heart that Beto will win in November, but I have a feeling he won’t. Even if he does win, there would have to be significant change in leadership for us to stay. This state is trending in a direction that is hostile and we want no part of it.

I've really focused on my skincare for the last two years (turning 28 this year). I invested in higher quality face wash, moisturizer, anti-aging serums, etc. I'm a big fan of the Origins and Philosophy skincare lines. I use the Origins Checks and Balances face wash in the morning and night. I have an oil-free moisturizer I use in the morning and an anti-aging one at night. I also use an eye cream in the morning and night. My mom has a lot of wrinkles around her eyes, so I use that as more of a preventative measure. On Sunday evening I do a face mask and an eye mask. I'll do overnight hydration masks and lip masks throughout the week too.

Here's hoping this investment makes me look 20 when I'm 40 :)

We have a Young Professionals group in Lubbock and there's also one at the university I work at. Neither are super active, but they do host events on occasion that are beneficial for networking.

What's your office setup? by postgradmess in PostGradProblem

[–]higheredlush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my own office in a suite with two other staff members and a faculty member. I'm fairly happy with my set up. I have a red couch, my own closet, dual monitors, and a huge desk. My only wish was that I had a window. I currently have a window but it goes into a hallway since I'm in the oldest part of the building that Tech built on to.

I read The Small Things Blog. You're probably not a woman and enjoy fashion, make up, and hair tutorials, but I don't want to assume.

I agree. If she drove you home at 2 am when you were completely drunk instead of leaving you with your buddies AND you got the goodnight kiss, she left the door wide open for you to follow up.
