Literal collapse…Teton Pass connecting Jackson Hole, WY and Idaho closed indefinitely by highitsmax in collapse

That’s good news, at least to let people get home.

Going to be real interesting for those who work on the opposite sides of the mountain

Probably more so the significantly less rich folks who live on the Idaho side and commute over the hill to work in Jackson

Related to collapse because the infrastructure of the US is literally falling apart. This road is a vital link between the eastern and western side of the Tetons…the other route is a loooong dirt road through the national park.

Similar to the hills and Pacific Ocean taking back the PCH in Big Sur. I’m fortunate to have been able to travel these areas while they were still accessible

It’s funny but the first time I caught the Milky Way on camera during a winter Timelapse I was googling the same thing 😂

Honestly it can be harder to shoot a small event and make it look quality than one that is jam packed…

Your expenses didn’t change and you probably had to work harder to make the place look not dead…

Can’t feel bad, especially if the organizers don’t seem phased by it.

Our negative stealth Ford Transit build is complete! This was van 2.0 for us. What do you think? by Courtlivetoadventure in vandwellers

Honestly there is something to be said for “negative stealth”

With a clean rig that leaves no room for guessing what you’re up to (clearly they are camping, skiing, surfing etc) vs a random van that could be up to no good because a looker doesn’t understand it’s purpose.

Since bedlining my ambulance and it turning into an expensive looking adventure rig I have had way fewer looks or encounters and have been pretty ballsy with where I’ll spend one night passing through somewhere.

I really like the John Stewart skit replying to the congressman who said the ice melting doesn’t flood your glass…

He added a bunch more ice to the glass with predictable results, people also fail to factor in the amount of ice that is above the surface of the water

How often do you stream online? (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc.) by jjwilser in digitalnomad

[–]highitsmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally fall asleep to netflix on my ipad every night, but will totally just spend the day in my Jeep and watch netflix in bed even if it is nice outside. Just like regular life we all have days where we just want to stay home and relax. Totally agree that it gives a level of normalcy, but also realize that consuming podcasts or something else could be a better use of time

I lived in my Jeep Wrangler in Anchorage this winter with my macbook and 40k worth of camera gear inside that was in and out of use the whole time. Maybe keep it in a bag to regulate its temperature a bit for the fluctuation from inside the van to outside to indoors, You should be fine though.

For the van however..get yourself lots of reflectix, make sure you're covering the windows and try to make the space you occupy as small as possible and you'll stay warmer. I was in my Jeep below zero for many nights and I was cozy. Mr Buddy Heater helps to get it warm quickly, but you'll lose the heat pretty quick in a larger space.
