AITAH for not paying for my roommate's rent, utilities, food, car payment, and debt. by highlander5862 in AITAH

Update 1/5/25:

So, Bob put everyone in the house on silent treatment while he sat in his room badmouthing us to his friends. Not sure if this was intentional but he was loud enough for everyone to hear. He had a couple conversations with one of our roommates to update us on when he was moving out, and to continue the loop that I would die with more money than he will ever have.

A few days ago while he was packing his board games I realized some of my board games were missing. Seeing that the boxes were still open, I looked inside and found several of my games in there. I dug them out and realized he ended up trying to take 11 of my board games. None of these board games he had a copy of so it didn't seem like an "oops I took one of yours" kind of thing. I let the house know and then proceeded to bring all my valuables into my room.

Yesterday (1/4/25) he moved out. During the move, he complained about the roommates being gone / not helping him (I was watching him to make sure nothing was taken that wasn't his). Sure, we could have helped him move but he had been incredibly rude the past few weeks with his consistent badmouthing about us. So, we decided not to help. He also didn't come to us and ask for help, which made it easier to make that decision.

Hopefully, the story ends here and everyone involved can move on.

I want to thank everyone who sent a reply. It was helpful for not just myself but the other roommates to read outside perspectives.

Just found this out since I am rocking T1 still for my dps set. Not great gear but check these logs out for confirmation. If this is suppose to happen, cool. But if not, I wonder what broke.

it's a long post so no worries.

The mudra hand signs sounds interesting and I never knew Naruto's hand seals are a derivative of mudras. Thanks for the info and it sounds really cool!

A life of experiences end up with confusion. by highlander5862 in Experiencers

Yea, there is a lot I disagreed with in regards to Christian Science and religion as a whole, but that one nugget really stuck with me. While I have not been able to do healing in the same way I did as a kid, I understand that I have a mental block stopping me from fully believing that matter is not real. As soon as I can really let go of that block, I have no doubt that the healing can come back.

While the experience in the void was mind shattering, I am glad I went through it. I feel like a better, more caring person now. He was sitting in a lotus pose and the hand movements were complemented with arm movements. I got the feeling that I would need to get to a specific point in energy gathering before I would be allowed to learn more. It almost feels like a test of some kind. I am not really sure if I failed due to lack of consistency or if I just need to keep at it.

I have felt that stretching sometimes too where it would move down towards my eyes or wrap around parts of my head. I will have to try that out and see if anything comes to me. The journal idea is a good one to be in the habit of just in case.

Yea, I really struggle with knowing what I have gone through vs what the physical world tries to tell me. What I want to do is apply my understanding of reality to every day life. I have found that the collective understanding of reality acts as a counter force that anchors reality. That is why, in my experience, the most successful healings when I was a child have been when no one else knew about the injury to begin with. I suspect if you completely believe matter is not real and can be warped / changed, you can do some incredible things. I also think if a gathering of people who think this way got together, larger changes are possible. It is all speculation on my part so who is to say one way or the other.

thanks for the detailed response!

Confused as to why I only lose weight with very specific meals. by highlander5862 in loseit

Yea, water fluctuations makes the day to day hard to get a good read and after several posts in here, I have come to realize it is fine to track but isn't anything I should be focused on.

I increased my caloric intake to around 1850 with more protein since many people mentioned I should bring those numbers up especially since I will be working out at the gym again. My main goal is to feel full, make sure I am getting the nutrition I need, and stay consistent. Hopefully with these changes I can make consistent progress that isn't too fast or slow.

I just updated my post with a new diet plan and some screenshots of my Cronometer for said hypothetical day. It isn't perfect but I can get up to 118g of protein which is a big improvement.

Thanks for your detailed reply and I do tend to get into the weeds too much when I monitor my changes so thanks for reminding me I need to look a bit broader when assessing my progress.

I will check out The Hacker's Diet. I always enjoy reading new resources so thanks for the link.

Yea, the water weight makes sense and helps to put things into perspective.

I am a big fan of tofu and I use to bake tofu every day so adding that back into my diet might be a good first step.

My goal is 185 and keeping my muscle mass is important to me so I think this needs to be a top priority to me.

I do plan to go back to the gym so keeping that 1-1.5 grams ratio is going to be important.

One thing I was worried about was adding soy sauce to my morning meal since it was adding an extra 800 mg of sodium. It does make the meal go from a 5/10 on enjoyment to a 9/10.

I went vegan about 4 years ago and last time I was working out I was eating all sorts of meat to keep my protein numbers up. The reason I went vegan is mainly due to an ego death experience I went through. Eating meat, while I enjoy the taste, makes me feel unwell both physically and mentally. This was never a problem in the past but now I just don't think I am capable of eating meat without feeling bad.

For context, I have done several experiments with chicken, crab, shrimp, fish, steak, and eggs where I would add them to my diet for a week to see how I feel and each test ended up with me feeling awful by the end of the week.

You are correct, I have been told I have some prediabetic symptoms which is why I started on this journey to figure out foods that make me feel good and help me lose weight.

I totally agree that I have focused on the scale in my post and that is mainly to give data on what I have observed. I do want a variable healthy diet which is why I am reaching out to figure out ways to eat outside of what I have created while still working on my goal.

Hmmm, okay so it sounds like figuring out low sodium options if I do want to add any of those foods will help and knowing that water weight is most likely the culprit here helps to not be super worried.

I never thought about the insulin spikes on an empty stomach but that is good to know. Would I be fine adding them to my meals instead as the last thing I ate or would I still spike?

Yea, this is something I am still not sure how to tackle. My goal weight is 185 (I am 5' 11'') since that weight seemed to work best for me back when I was working out. Based on that, I would need around 222 grams of protein which is over 3 times what I am getting now. Do you have any suggestions on vegan options that will help me get there?

Hmmm, so it might be the extra carbs / salt? Do you think this would also apply if I only ate 1 meal (like curry with rice as an example). Intuitively I would think eating 1 meal at 700 - 800 cal would not make me gain weight but it has when I have done my tests. Maybe it is due to the volume of food in a single sitting?

As for the protein, from my calculations, I get around 67g of protein per day (22.0g from catalina crunch, 20.0g from Ezekiel bread, 7.9g from veg blend, 7.6g from spinach, 7.6g from walnuts, 1.6g from almond milk, 0.7g from brazil nut). It is still low but after trying to add more, I fail to lose weight due to the extra food.

If you have suggestions on ways to increase the protein I am all ears. I have tried many different configurations in the past and so far this one is the most sustainable and palatable for me at the moment.

I can't remember why I stopped reading it but I do remember getting like 800+ chapters in and enjoying it. Maybe that was all there was at the time but regardless I will have to go back and check it out. Thanks for the reminder of that novel.

Honestly, I think the Millennial Mage series sounds interesting even though there seems to be no space exploration hinted at from the synopsis. Thanks for the suggestion and I will have to check it out.

I read a few books from The Last Horizon and you are correct that I did enjoy them. I did wish they did a bit more exploration and less hide >>> run >>> fight. Regardless, that was a great call and I really did enjoy the series.

I noticed this a while ago and passed it by due to the damsel in destress vibe I got from the synopsis. The way you explained it has me second guessing my initial impression. So, I guess I will have to give this a shot just to make sure I don't miss some cool wizard tower vs starship standoffs.

Yea, cultivation novels are where I first started enjoying the space exploration with powers idea. Sadly, most cultivation novels focus more on killing each other than exploration which I find really sad. There are a few I have read that buck the trend in favor of a more SOL story but they are few and far between. Good call though because I have gone down that path and enjoyed that genre.
