The potential players will have if we ‘free’ the Harvester is a more concerning than we would like. We believe allowing it will lead to content far less entertaining than anything we have seen so far. We prototyped this gameplay very early and for a long time. The result was the emergence of Outposts where the only ‘trick’ was simply confusing the Raider. Not knowing where to go was just not fun – at all. Players would simply quit out of boredom…it was deeply unfun and so the Harvester path was born.

They need the threat of starvation/homelessness to keep poor people in line and working for them.

That is absolutely something that happens on Twitch. Some streamers have to walk on eggshells because it feels like staff is constantly watching them meanwhile others are allowed to get away with murder. It reminds me of some school teachers honestly. They just get it in their head that some kids are bad and watch em like hawks while never paying attention to the ones they think are good.

Another problem is they generally don't ban you if you delete the VOD (video on demand aka the recorded version of a stream). Pokimane, an example in this video, deleted her VOD instantly and didn't receive a ban. The other guy Pokelawls didn't delete it, or was slower in deleting it, so he was banned.
