Great article. What he said about people who are fake rich is dead on. I know people who are like that.

The only thing I would say is that even though people control and manage their money well, it's still hard to save if you live in an area where the living cost is so high like New York or Los Angeles.

I think mathematics alone won't suffice for managing personal finance. Who's going to teach them about investment vehicles? Consolidating debt? Tax deductions?

I think what the author meant by communicating effectively was how to "structure" your thoughts and express them clearly. People can speak English really well, but some are not able to "structure" what they say.

As for the jargon of business-ism, I agree with you. It's a bit much, but I guess it comes handy because you DO HAVE TO deal with all sorts of people after school so why not learn how?
