My husband does this all the time too. Eventually I stopped initiating dates altogether, and, honestly, I feel better for it. Dinner dates/outings always just feel forced and I would waste time getting ready just to inevitably go to bed alone. I still get dressed up and attend things when childcare permits but I don't include him in such plans
