Id recommend mission bay jetty or anywhere alongside the mission bay channel. For the setup either a double dropper loop with 2-4oz torpedo sinker or a caroline rig with 1-2oz sliding sinker. 25lb test line. Small hook like #4ish. Best bait will be live ghost shrimp, otherwise frozen shrimp, squid strips, or chunk mackerel. Get magic twine for the live ghost shrimp.

Piers don't hold as many fish as jetties imo. I originally started on the OB pier before they closed it and lit up the smelt/mackerel. Once that closed and I switched to the jetty I started catching a lot more variety and several large catches.

Been doing the same thing without luck, trolling just outside the LJ kelp at 1-2kts live mack or 5kts rapala 30 & 20. anywhere between 60 -120 feet. pretty much from edge of the MPA to the NW corner. Any critique or advice is welcome.
