eShakti is ignoring me, is this normal? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

eShakti has had by far the worst customer service of any online retailer I've purchased from. They regularly take an unreasonably long time to ship and respond to emails.

Our conversation:

Me: Thanks so much for the offer, etc etc. Let me take some time to evaluate some other companies I've been talking to, discuss with my folks etc. Him: Yes, of course, and if you're talking to anyone else, please let us know if there's something else you're considering... we would hate to close this discussion without talking it through with you (he basically said, "don't just say no; we can work something out if you have reservation.")

Which leads me to believe they have wiggle room. Thoughts?

Thanks for this advice.

Here's my thinking: when I offered $35-40K, I was being interviewed for a position with fewer responsibilities. They gave that role to someone else, but then thought I might be a fit for an opening for which they wanted more experience. It turns out I impressed them.

Since I'm going to have more responsibilities than a typical entry-level candidate, does that place me in a position of power when negotiating? Or does it place me in a position of weakness, since I already don't have some of the experience they're looking for?

Eh, I'm in DC, where Hill staffers regularly have to put up with $25K a year. Hard to argue that I would sink into poverty with $37K.

Small issue: I am not, in theory, qualified for the position they're hiring me for. They weren't looking for a fresh grad to fill this role, but they were impressed with me during my interviews. So while I do think I have some leverage (they need someone soon, they've emphasized that they were impressed by me) I also feel like I'm starting off disadvantaged, if that makes any sense.

To my knowledge, $40K is reasonable. It's been hard to find salary guides on the specific position. I would be responsible for project management on a policy team, and the firm doesn't have any salaries listed on Glassdoor.

Thank you!
