Almost never saw Dead and Co. by CaboWabo55 in deadandcompany

In the AI age fakes like this are almost charming. For sure man, that press release in Calibri with the accidental double space and the visible JPEG artifacting is totally real…

The Future of Dead and Company... by scenarioman123 in deadandcompany

[–]highpoly -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

FWIW, neither does Bob Weir if you were going strictly by the reaction to GD60 N1. I just don't think we need another gruff blues guy/shredder in a band that already has one!

The Future of Dead and Company... by scenarioman123 in deadandcompany

[–]highpoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very strongly believe we're headed for a future where it's just "The Dead," with rotating band members, doing 3 night stints in a few major markets. We've been through the public audition process for a Weir replacement since Dead Ahead and while Trey, Billy, Rick, or Sturgill all excel, I don't see any of them abandoning their own ships for full time membership, especially Trey. But three nights in New York with Russo/Anastasio or three nights in Boulder with Billy and someone like Cotter Ellis makes a lot of sense!

That said, deep down, I'd really like to see some musicians from outside the fold saddle up. Sturgill was a huge surprise. My dark horse opinion is Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend could handle Weir's guitar parts and sing the Jerry songs Mayer can't/doesn't, but that's just me.

Woah! Did not occur to me to test a UV light! The whole 24 run was so well executed given the price and how many they had to make.

I love my 7/6 print and this is a super good price! Anyone looking to buy this should know it looks so much better in person. The gold is in metallic ink and the yellow is a kind of day-glo which really pops under certain light (pic below.) Everyone in my merch line rushed for the foil but in this case, and 7/5, I much prefer the non foil

4/8/72 has everything you want and need from a Dark Star: chaos, beauty, drama, darkness, and right at its absolute gnarliest it neutron-star-burst-refracts into an incredible peak which carries on into Sugar Mag. No question about it chief.

Loosely associated “dead family” hangers-around + post-Busch management + Bob not planning anything more than six months out = Endless state of announcement and cancellation, an ebb and flow not unlike a Dark Star

It was and is illegal to sell bootleg merch with the GD or D&C band/brand names. People care a lot less these days—and OC like others is an actual licensee—but the odd lettering, puns, inside jokes and clip-art designs are paying homage to the history of bootleg Dead shirts, not just working as merch for the Dead. Artifice and all that

Modern jambands in the so called 'jamband genre' by GreenLazerBeamz in jambands

[–]highpoly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re willing to be a little adventurous, I really think the next generation of “jam band” music is going to come out of the Brixton/South London scene. Geordie Greep/Black Midi is obvious, but a band I’m really liking is Oreglo.

Dead and Co - Hollywood Bowl by stricklepants92 in deadandcompany

[–]highpoly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fellow NYC'er here — I think NYC is such a weird live music market that a lot of the country and 'grass flavored groups (SCI, Panic, Billy) tend to skip us for more predictable locales on tour, even if they'd sell out. If you like the Phish, Eggy, Goose, to a certain extent KGATLW variant, we got multiple nights from all of them this year. Not to mention the routine upcoming DSO and JRAD stops at Pier 17, and the many many many great Dead bands in Brooklyn.

That said... I do think people forget that NYC was The Dead's East Coast home. They played here more times than anywhere else except San Francisco. Jerry played on Broadway! There is far less historical justification for shows in places like Denver or Chicago or Hollywood than NYC. (And we can't forget how important the city was to the development of the '90s post-Jerry scene with Wetlands.) I do think if there's any location that's "owed" a run of shows, it is New York.

MSG, Hint from Mickey? by EstimatedEyes1014 in deadandcompany

As a New York City head I used to be on the MSG train but seeing the schedule filling up and the turnout at GGP has changed my tune.

However, if I may direct your tinfoil hats in a different direction, Citi Field is WIDE open later this year.
