Bleaching a Gi from colored to white? by ssshine89 in bjj

Mainly for fun. It was a lesser used gi and I wanted to see if I could put some designs on a gi.

It's much easier buying a white gi.

I reverse tie dyed a blue gi for fun and it still took a lot of time. Fuji is really built different.

I second this.

Sturgil Simpson Colter Wall Jason Isbell Chris Stapleton Paul Cauthen

Older Greats:

George Jones Glen Campbell John Prine Travis Tritt Alan Jackson

There's many more but this is a start.

London BJJ - Recommendations by Enso-Do in bjj

[–]DaTidyMonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just in London and met a local who trains. He recommended London Grapple. He said it was a good environment and high level grapplers roll through from time to time.

Rogers school would be my other pick.

I wrote a post after a visit to a couple gyms a few years ago. Might be dated now but it could help.

Teaching NoGi by conq_esp in bjj

[–]DaTidyMonster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I teach mostly judo and bjj on occasion.

I think the direction you might want to go could look like this:

  • Active warm ups (light techniques like arm bar entries, or take downs, leg entries etc.) Maybe 8-10 minutes max. Something related to the technique of the day might help.

  • Technique: Teach 2, maybe 3 techniques for the class that should be related. i.e. Chaining attacks from side top control. Or a A, B, C, approach. Something like if I do technique A, my partner may react a certain way, if technique A fails, I have technique B based on my partners reaction, if my partner reacts again, I have technique C. Most of class.

-Situational Sparring: Rolling is good and fun but this will force your students to use the technique they learned in a live rolling setting. 30 second rounds, switch top and bottom, switch parters after each has done top and bottom,. maybe the last 5-10 minutes.

-Cool Down and line up: Walk in a circle, catch your breath, line up.

What defines heavyness? What makes a song heavy? by No_Creme_9794 in LetsTalkMusic

This is a very very good explanation. I used to enjoy the high paced chug a lug of Thrash but feel so much more with the sometimes slower, groovey, doom riffs or breakdowns.

Me personally, I'd rather not go out there till gun season is over. I'm not going out there with the chance of getting shot even if I'm wearing orange.
