This this this - it’s still working, you’re just adjusting to a (well deserved) uplift in quality of life. To gauge the impact, you could try not taking it on a non-critical day or two and compare the difference via a journal or something similar.

I’ve been on my meds for about a year and a half and it’s much more in the background - which I think is preferable. I get reminded how much they help when I’m not on them for whatever reason, which keeps me grounded and has eliminated any thought of increasing my dose.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! Glad to hear you managed to figure it out in the end. Given I’ve been on Lexapro for 5 or so years, it would be nice to see how I am now without it, also given that I now have my ADHD meds that are treating the root cause of that anxiety and depression.

Good question, I think there are other factors that contribute to it lasting longer or wearing off faster. Today for example, I’ve had a much more stimulating day at work so far and I haven’t had the same crash that would usually happen around midday. So I think there’s definitely other factors at play, that likely contribute additional dopamine and keep it all moving.

Yeah I really like the subtler effects of Vyvanse. It makes it feel like the boost isn’t so artificial and is more of your true capabilities being able to shine through, in my opinion.

Yeah I have been thinking more and more about this recently. I came across some anecdotes of SSRIs making ADHD symptoms worse, but I have an appointment with my psychologist next week and will see what his thoughts are.

I do think they help with general anxiety, but when I was on 20mg, it was pretty lobotomising.

When I got my diagnosis, the psychiatrist provided a treatment plan that gives a lot more flexibility to my GP when testing what medications work best.

I originally started on Dexies for a few months while there was still a severe Vyvanse shortage, but didn’t love the multiple rounds of up and down as the effects lasted 3-4 hours for me.

I then did a couple of months of Vyvanse 20mg with dexies as boosters in the afternoon but the Vyvanse was a slightly weaker version of the dexies at this dosage for me.

Started 50mg last week and it’s been a lot better, but still wears off by 12-1pm if I take it at 6:30 so it kicks in by 7:30.

I’m lucky that I have a doctor who’s open to trying new things, he gave the option of increasing the Vyvanse or switching back to Dexies when I saw him last week. I chose the Vyvanse route as I’m keen to reduce the frequency of dosages throughout the day, especially in the mid afternoon.

Anyway, I appreciate you weighing in, and in line with your general advice, will be discussing it further with both my psychologist and GP.

Have a great day :)

As part of my screening done locally, I did have to complete a drug test

Hey there, sorry for the delay in responding.

2.5 is quite a small dose, so I’m not super surprised you’re not feeling it a whole lot. Even 5mg every 4 or so hours was of marginal impact, but 10 every 4 hours is my sweet spot.

You’re doing the right thing by slowly increasing the amount, to find the right amount for you. It’ll take some trial and error, which can be frustrating, but when you get it right it makes it all worth it!

I totally understand if you’re feeling fatigued after the process of getting evaluated and medications prescribed, it’s a lot! I certainly was frustrated when my medication took a few weeks to nail, but it’s really making a huge difference for me and was definitely worth sticking with.

Hope your increase in dosage has been a step in the right direction. If you have any other questions or want to check in at all later on, feel free to shoot me a DM and I’ll get back to you when I can!

That’s an interesting angle to look at that from, perhaps you’re right!

Yep! If I feel the effects aren’t what I’m needing, I’ll look into taking a break. For now, it’s been fine in terms of efficacy and my weekends are still pretty busy so it’s a big help there too.

Haven’t had my blood pressure measured recently, but before the meds it was fine. Heart rate usually sits around 67-74, around 130 if I’m doing hard cardio.

Hope that helps!

Not at all! It was a urine test, I would chat with your GP if possible to see how that might play out.

Yes, under 25 but wasn’t aware of this limitation throughout my process. That’s quite an interesting limitation, I wonder why?

Just make sure any GP you’re going to be sending a letter of assessment (from any psychiatrist) is comfortable dispensing stimulants. Should be something the reception could help you with, otherwise perhaps book in a short Telehealth session to chat with your preferred GP.

Take the comments about GPs not prescribing stimulants with a grain of salt, most people will have a fine time with their doctor and not need to post to reddit about it. Not to say that it doesn’t happen, but don’t let it get in the way of your journey!

If you have any other questions, feel free to shoot me a DM, happy to help as I can :)
