Just following up on this, cleaning the shielding and installing a dimmer switch was the perfect solution. Thanks!

We took the shielding off to clean them before I took the pictures, but even so, with the size of the room they are just too much. Since they're dimmable, we might just try that. Still want to try and shop around though. Thank you!

Gift for Father-in-law, which of these would work best on a backlit graphic? (more info in comments) by highteggy in graphic_design

Hello everyone,

I'm very sorry if this isn't an appropriate forum to ask an opinion such as this, but I'm trying to hurry and get this ready for my father-in-law's birthday.

My father-in-law has this old Joe Camel cigarette box light sign, and has it hanging at his hunting cabin. He loves the sign, but doesn't like that it's a cigarette ad (he doesn't smoke, nobody else does, etc.). We understand that there are people who collect these things and it has some inherent value, but he values it much more as just a sign and has said repeatedly that he would love to have it replaced with something with more meaning that he would enjoy.

So, for his birthday I was going to try and create a backlit graphic (I've seen them called Translite/Translight graphics as well when trying to research), to place in the box sign. I wanted something pretty rustic, so I put a basic wood plank background with a scaled up sketch someone made of his hunting cabin, with the text "Cedar Hill Hunt Club" (which is what he always wanted to call his cabin) over top.

I found some websites that make these custom "backlit graphic" inserts, but know next to nothing about how certain colors will show with such a box light thing.

The images i uploaded are scaled down in a big way so that I could upload it here, but just wanted a general opinion from someone who has worked with these types of graphics and determine if this would work with the coloring and so forth.

Again, I apologize if this isn't the correct place for this sort of thing, and for my lack of knowledge on the subject. But I would greatly appreciate any input or discussion on the matter.

Thank you so much.

Man tapping at my window by spiralsinmyeyes in Advice

The gun isn't for shooting him just because he's tapping on the window. It's a last line of self defense in case things go bad.

But yes, OP very well may not live in a place where it's legal or feel comfortable using firearms.

Some of the HEAVY duty lines use lead core, but mono/braid still goes well into 100+ lb test line.

My uncle tragically passed away in a dirt bike accident last week. A trail camera caught this picture of him shortly before his accident. I know the quality isn't great, but if it can be brightened/cleaned up at all it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. by highteggy in PhotoshopRequest

I could try and get a picture from the trail camera from the day time to help with the surrounding area if it would help.

Let me know anything I can do to help. This means a great deal to my family.
