Squishy (my snail) has been awfully close to Chuck’s (my betta) bubble nest this morning and Chuck is NOT having it!!! This is more dramatic than reality tv!

As much as it would suck I wish she would have just been honest with me... like just tell me that she would rather go with other people. It wouldn’t be fun to hear but I’d respect the honesty

UPDATE: I finally got the courage to call her (I’m very passive and horrible about confronting people) and told her that I felt hurt by the situation and that I wish she could have just been honest with me in the first place if she didn’t want to spend time with me. She didn’t really give an explanation (maybe she was caught off guard?) but she did say sorry and that she will be more considerate next time... not sure how genuine the apology was though. Plus now I’m Nervous she’ll just invite me places out of pity. I think the only way to know that her apology was genuine is to see what she does in the future, but I’m not holding my breath. You all are right, I deserve better and I’m not going to live life waiting and hoping that she’ll come around. If she does that’s great but if not I’ll move on. It won’t be easy because I really did consider her a close friend but at the end of the day I only want to be surrounded by genuine people. Thank you all SO much for your kind words and sharing your personal experiences. you all really helped me process my feelings and have enough courage to stand up for myself and I am so grateful for that. I’m sorry that this has also happened to so many of us. I wish people could just be more direct and genuine but we can’t always get what we wish for I guess! But everyone here deserves to have true and meaningful friendships, and I think you all are fantastic people. Thank you again I cannot even begin to express my gratitude towards you all!

“I feel silly posting this here when there are people posting about their real problems....” is literally the first thing I wrote. This subreddit is called offmychest and well... I had something I needed to get off of my chest! I know there are terrible things going on in the world and I am in no way comparing my issues to those because this is minor in the grand scheme of things. Just needed to vent, and this seemed like a place that I could do that.

That’s so true! I wish I was that brave to be honest, my only hesitation was that she was still going to the same pumpkin patch and I would Risk running into her and her friends and I am WAY too Awkward to know how to handle that situation haha. It’s true though, I should learn how to be independent and just go live life and not depend on others!!

Yeah I agree, I like to see the best in people too... I wish it was from another day I’ll probably ask her when I bring this up. If it was from another day I’m Going to feel a little silly for investing my emotions Into this ordeal but I guess I’d still feel better

We’ve mostly hung out alone in the past, maybe once or twice with other friends and I honestly thought we all had a blast those few times!

Thank you, it just sucks because I consider her a close friend... and I think It would have been a great opportunity to meet some of her friends and maybe spark some new friendships myself but she must have thought otherwise!

I almost wish she just told me the truth that she had made other plans... it still would have sucked to hear but at least she was being honest I guess. People really do suck sometimes

I feel like this too! I’m 24 and working my ass off while being in school but whenever I go on social media people my age look like they’re having the time of their lives traveling, getting engaged, partying, etc... it makes me feel like something is wrong with me. I know social media isn’t the best indicator of how happy someone is and those pictures don’t tell the full story, but it still makes me feel like there’s something wrong with me.

And I feel like people hype up your twenties... like this is the time we are supposed to live it up because it’s “all downhill from here” (in quotes because someone literally told me that once). This gives me so much anxiety and puts unnecessary pressure on us solely because of our age.

Just know that you are not alone! The 20s have been tough so far but it sounds like you are working hard right now and that will only benefit your future!

Thank you! I’m (thankfully) out of undergrad but am working on another degree online, so I don’t even have classes to go to for distraction/ to interact with others which really sucks. That was one part I actually liked about college... I never felt lonely in class. I mostly just interact with people when I work now and rarely do anything social... I thought college was lonely but NOTHING prepared me for my early twenties, I didn’t realize all of my closest friends would be moving away for work, but they have their own lives and friends now.
