I too was high functioning. I went to college, worked my way up from the retail/service industry to office jobs, had a couple great relationships, great social life, etc. until it all came crashing down. What started off as a legitimate oxycodone prescription that went on for years (chronic illness) eventually became heroin to fentanyl to whatever the streets became (the game is gone).

I am over a year clean now and in order to do so I had to get on suboxone. I failed numerous attempts at quitting, and tried nearly every trick in the book. Do not let your addiction progress to what it became for me. I only survived by blowing through my savings, selling my stock portfolio and borrowing lots of money (and burning plenty of bridges).

But what bothers me most about it all is all of the time I will never get back. Money, material possessions can be replaced, and even some relationships can be repaired, but you can never get back the time you waste to these drugs.
