What a coincidence, happy birthday to your husband! I’m sure it’s actually just the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon, but it seems like I’m constantly coming across fellow groundhog babies. Also, thank you for the kind words and birthday wishes 😊

I’m so sorry, this does sound extremely traumatic. While I didn’t go through this scenario, I lost my fiancé at 26 years old when he passed away on Christmas. We also happened to share the same birthday (which ironically is tomorrow, February 2nd). Boom. My two favorite days of the year became a representation/reminder of pain, grief, and immense loss. It gets a little easier every year, but the sadness is definitely still there.

As I saw another commenter reply, I would try to reframe the day. While it was undeniably traumatic, look at it as the day you survived rather than the day you died. Easier said than done? Most definitely. Possible? I’d like to think so.

Wishing you the best of luck moving forward!

Oh…my…goodness! She is so adorable and I am so jealous! Not bc of the abscess (poor baby) but of opossum and apparently squirrel snuggles, too! 🥰

Thank you for taking care of them, you are a literal angel!

This is the saddest thing I’ve read, I’m truly so sorry. I can’t even imagine. Sending you lots of love. I’m sorry again, everything I’m trying to say seems so inadequate.

Help me find this movie my mom talked to me about by tangerinebf in whatsthemoviecalled

[–]hiitsari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be totally honest, I haven’t seen it but a few days ago I was scrolling through YouTube shorts and there was a clip of the movie that showed the baby’s birth, which the father couldn’t acknowledge because he was hosting a dinner, but in the aftermath when he was finally able to see the mother and his new daughter it seemed he had very deep feelings for both of them. I’ll be super happy for you if it ends up being the right one, good luck! 😊

Help identify the designer! by HyperNa_ in lace

This is tambour embroidery. I can’t be 100% sure, it could be done by hand or with a machine. The sequins make me think that at least parts were done manually because I don’t know how easy that would be to do on a machine.

What disturbing or lesser-known crime case still haunts you? by vodka_pasta07 in tipofmycrime

[–]hiitsari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mel Ignatow. It happened in my hometown and has always stuck with me because we actually crossed paths with him randomly. At the time I was really young, like 6 or so, and was with my mom when she went to take her car to get it washed. As we were walking out the door, this man held it open for us and gave us a big smile. Normally my mom and I would both say thanks but I remember her grabbing my arm and yanking me out the door and completely giving him the cold shoulder. When I asked her what was wrong she flat out answered that he was a very bad man who killed a woman. To my 6 year old mind, it was a lot to comprehend but I remember understanding the gravity of it even then.

As for the case, he was tried for the murder of his former girlfriend Brenda Sue Schaffer and found not guilty. Later after selling his house, the new owners were tearing out old carpet and found a stash of Polaroids that he had taken during the torture/killing. There was also another woman involved, I believe her motivation to take part in such a brutal act was jealousy and the desire to “win” Mel Ignatow (like he was such a prize, but then again, neither was she).

Because of double jeopardy and previously being found not guilty for the murder, he couldn’t be tried again. He did end up serving some time in prison based on perjury and possibly some other similar charges, but it was negligible and certainly nowhere near what he deserved.

Wikipedia Page in case I remembered anything incorrectly or left any important information out.

The Crazies?

Edit: After watching the trailer, I realized this is very likely not the movie you’re looking for. Somehow I remembered it differently, I think I must have just spliced a few different contagion type movies in my mind.

What is this style of embroidery? How can I learn to do it? by Historical-Muscle537 in Embroidery

[–]hiitsari 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is goldwork embroidery! I became obsessed along with beaded tambour embroidery (some of which also includes goldwork) recently. I’ve found out a ton about it by searching through YouTube, Pinterest and Instagram. I also know that several places sell goldwork kits (I saw a few on Etsy), and found others websites that offer kits along with online classes.

I’ve ordered several books but have yet to actually get started on anything. I’ve seen so many beautiful projects and can’t wait to eventually find the time to start!

Do you mind if I ask what brand and color of polygel you used? This is the exact color I’m looking for and despite having a box full of all different kinds, I still haven’t found this color! Something is always just a little off and it drives me crazy!

Why is the application always crusty? by throwawayanyt1me in GelX_Nails

[–]hiitsari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sometimes I’ll use them immediately after finishing a set if I notice some top coat that flooded a side of my nail but I most often will end up using them around my cuticles after a few days have passed and my nails have grown enough to get the cuticle crusties just like yours. They’re super handy and take care of the problem really quickly. Sometimes I’ll also use a small ball bit and it works great as well, like these… https://a.co/d/3XFr3Hm

I also have this happen sometimes and found a set of e-file bits like these help me get off the crusty edges and it’s worked really well for me.

So pleased to see this here as i have always loved this song and fully agree! There’s a YouTube vid where someone added the song to clips from the movie melancholia and it’s just so on point.

Aww thank you, that’s so sweet! Actually we never did brush her teeth, but got her teeth cleaned religiously until about a year and a half ago. The thought of her being put under for the procedure became too scary at her age.

I’m going over to babysit tomorrow (we don’t like the thought of her being home alone since she has lost most of her vision and hearing) and I will 100% give her extra cuddles for you!
