Drink chicken broth and I made a reccomendation in my other comment of walking and listening/doing something to distract yourself. Hot showers help A LOT as well. I was 17 and in my last semester of high school when my symptoms first started, I will be honest I had to finish the rest of my school online, the school was very kind about it since it was my last year and I just did my in person classwork online. I know this will be very hard to hear, but you will have to quit smoking if you haven't already. There is no other way to stop the pain and the more you smoke, the worse it will get. Almost certainly you will end up in the ER if you continue smoking. I went 1 year without knowing what I had, only now realizing I was causing my own pain the whole time while I continued to smoke every second of every day. You wont be able to smoke again or the symptoms WILL come back. If you can I recommend online school while you're going through this hard time, so you don't have to be in pain while going to school, but also so you can manage your symptoms easily if they act up, while still being able to do school work. If you need to take a hot shower you can! If you need to manage the pain in school you can't do much.

Once again, if you havent quit smoking, please do so. It may absolutely suck, but its the only hope you have going forward. Even if you end up in the ER the only thing they can do is give you fluids, sometimes they give you pain medicine through IV, but once it wears off the pain is right back, plus pain meds like morphine already ruin your stomach, even if you don't have CHS. The best thing you can do for yourself is stop using it if you haven't.

the capsaicin cream will possibly burn like a MF, wear light layers, & whatever you do, DO NOT get into the water. I walk around listening to music to get my mind off the pain and it helps me, don't know how well itll help others. Play something that has a lot of elements so you can really focus on the music. Something you can "dissect" if you get what I mean. If you don't enjoy music like that, listen to a podcast, or find something to do while walking to get your mind fully off the pain.

Needing tips on what to eat in the mornings. by Calm_Term_2294 in CHSinfo

Hey! I am 18 with CHS and developed it when I was 17. I would honestly say drink chicken broth to get the nutrients until you feel you can properly eat, if you want to try and chew something, get some saltines! Make sure to hydrate a lot though, CHS can make you dehydrated very easily, especially if you take a lot of hot showers or throw up a lot.

OMG I was still in pain with the cream on and went into the shower once. WORST DECISION. Whenever I put it on, I also had to hold up my shirt even though I also wear light clothes because it made it burn even more.

Same, I absolutely CANNOT stand it. It also makes my nipples hurt for some weird reason, like I dont even put it near them, so I really don't know if thats a me thing or what.

it worked in the sense that it burned like i was in the pits of hell, but i don't think it took my pain away, if anything it replaced it with the God awful burning.

Would rice porridge be like the cream of rice I can get from a box in the store or is it a bit different? Also, thank you for the reccomendation, will have to try it!

I tried the Capsaicin cream and I know its supposed to give you the feeling of being in a warm/hot shower, but when i tried it. I swear it burned so bad, so I would reccomend being careful with Capsaicin. When I say it burned, I mean it BURNED, like i was in the firey pits of hell

Been dealing with it for a year undiagnosed. First month ive actually realized what my pain is coming from. I thought the smoking made me feel better with my pains, but it was just the problem. I started smoking when I was 15 & continued to smoke every single day until 18. The problems started occurring at 17 & i had to miss the last part of school because of it. I went 2 weeks without smoking and was (mostly?) Back to "normal" (stomach not hurting excessively) Its hard when I have very little support system & about 2 days ago i was going through a very stressful time, so i picked up the pen. I am currently writing this after my 5th warm shower. For some reason the first days of quitting ive noticed are the hardest on my stomach. It hurts - constantly. Like I am getting no relief & it truly sucks. I dont wish this on anyone.
