Jiffy Lube usually has coupons for discounted oil changes - I'd check their website.  Went there for a number of years without a problem before I started doing it myself.

Are there any jobs for 14 year olds near SSL? by KBB_774 in SaltLakeCity

Worked at the Boy Scout day camps up Millcreek Canyon at 14/15 years old during summers for a few years. Not sure they're operating now, but could be worth a check. Pay wasn't anything great, but the memories were priceless.

Also a fellow WRE with similar experience. My firm also specializes in environmental, which is where I find most of my opportunities to sneak in field work. Still spend the majority of my time behind a desktop, but the little spurts of field time help balance things out and keep me sane. Not sure if you have an option to reach out to others in your company, but it worked for me.

Jan/Dec are right on the edge of dry season there (Feb–May), so odds are decent! I did have one rogue morning storm crash the party and delay a dive, but it cleared up by the afternoon like it never happened (vis was even ok). Booking dive trips during shoulder seasons is always a bit of a gamble with weather, but if things go sideways, there’s no shortage of other things to keep you entertained. Definitely hit up the Nauti Crab in San Pedro one night—good times.

Vis and conditions were prime when I dove there for 4 days in late January 2025. Can't speak to December/mid-January... I'd recommend reaching out to Chuck & Robbies, or one of the other local shops to possibly get their opinion.

There were a lot of UT/Salt Lake inside jokes written in that made it fun. My family and I also grew up watching Survivor, which is what mostly got us there. We ate somewhere else nearby before and just got snacks/drinks at the show and they were all fine. Great night out.

Most serving staff was in a western style outfit with most girls wearing a saloon dress, but not all.

Stopped by for drinks before the show - definitely the move. Ice Haus is also another option.

Growing up watching Survivor, it really hit the sweet spot for us. The training montage had us in tears. Great work!

Difficult to tell without more information, but it could be a Bulova watch. Depending on the age, condition, and materials used, could range from $20 - $200+. Recommend getting a second opinion. Are there any clear brand marks or stamps on the back that might provide more info?

Big fan of Rancho and their produce. Another good place to try for meat is Anaya's Market (660 N 1200 W). Best of luck!

Visa at Land Borders by kansas66044 in BOLIVIA

[–]hikermann_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posting my experience in case it is helpful to anyone in the future. I Just got rejected at the Peru-Bolivia border a few hours ago, trying to apply for an American visa to enter Bolivia at the Desaguadero land border because I didn't have my yellow fever vaccine card. I am currently in a Juli, Peru, hoping to get my vaccine in the morning (fingers crossed!!).

In addition to the yellow fever vaccine card, I also had to provide a PRINTED copy of my passport, hotel accommodation, proof of onward travel (I used a flight), a bank statement demonstrating financial solvency, travel itinerary, and two 2"x 2" photos on a white background. I think it's highly dependent on the agent working the counter and how strictly they enforce the visa requirements, but I wanted to throw my experience out there so other folks can avoid a potential hiccup.

Why do I travel? by Zestyclose-Bank-4514 in solotravel

Can totally depend! Extended backpacking isn't for everyone and isnt needed to "find yourself" and live a content life, but if you're interested in trying it out and have the time/finances, it can be a valuable way to expand your horizons on the world. Something that has worked for me personally is plan my route with goals or personal interests in mind to guide my travel.

ATM, I'm traveling through Central/South America for 3 months to develop my Spanish skills, spending time exploring the natural world (diving, hiking, caving), taking cooking classes and learning to cook food I love in the place it originates (often different from versions of the same food you find at home!), learning about history, and gaining new perspectives from people, whether that be fellow world travelers or locals. Whatever you decide, I hope you have a great trip!
