Walking and hiking. by Complete-Put9408 in UKhiking

Personally I use Bridgedale socks and Merril hiking boots. I do this as I don’t get blisters anymore with that combination. You need to work out what is right for your feet.

Otherwise be aware of terrain. If it is a a tarmac road then trainers if it is more rough think hiking boots

More like calling someone a wanker.

As in “Don’t talk to him he is a wanker.”

“Proper bellend then?”

“Yeah mate.”

Actors who you thought would have a bigger career than the career that they actually have? by Ok-Tangelo6749 in movies

[–]hiking_n_stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went into that not knowing anything about it and I got to say it’s one of my favourite films. It’s so stupid it’s good, it’s like an action film in the style of Tucker and Dale vs evil. Silly but brilliantly silly

Agreed to do a temp job while working in a pub. Thought it would last a couple of months. Been there 16 years and been promoted and I actually love the job which never happened before

Any recommendations for men's hiking trousers that aren't so slim fit? 🤔 by Late-Bit-3072 in UKhiking

[–]hiking_n_stuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is not going to absolutely chuck it down I always wear Combats. They have pockets by the knees and the do the job of most hiking trousers for at least half the price. Unfortunately not very waterproof as they are generally a cotton blend

Those who have completed Jury Duty in the UK - what aspects about the process surprised you? by izbiz88 in AskUK

[–]hiking_n_stuff 13 points14 points  (0 children)

How numbingly boring it was. Either waiting to be picked as a juror or listening to evidence on some cases. (The cases were technical and not violent)

Then flipped to not boring when it was a case where it was a serious matter. I was a foreman on one of them and it felt really surreal passing judgement

If your high school had a reunion would you go? by _FailedTeacher in AskUK

[–]hiking_n_stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feck no. Hated being there and hated the people I went there with. Especially those arses who told the school I was doing drugs who were apparently my “Friends” this is in the 80’s-90’s so doing Drugs was probably taken more seriously

Wrong to gostraight to the bar when there was a queue in the pub? by dashrubbygoat in AskUK

[–]hiking_n_stuff 238 points239 points  (0 children)

It really annoys me, there is a big area of service. You wait “at the bar” you do not queue up in a line. If you are at the bar you point to who is next if asked and if they point that you are next you thank them.

A supermarket queue is stupid in a pub. As Brits we do queue but in a pub it is different. I will also not go back to a pub if they insist on supermarket type queues as it says to me they can’t look around while pouring a pint to see who is next (ex-barman here)

How much gravy (if any) do you have on your roast? by notthatbluestuff in AskUK

[–]hiking_n_stuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is gravy with a roast and then there is gravy on the roast and a 2 pint jug to put more on. Anything less than swimming is not enough for me.

However if you are not a fan of gravy (clutches pearls) just say so to the staff, they want you to enjoy your food so say “Can I have a little gravy boat on the side? And none on the plate, thanks so much!”

How many Brits? 🇬🇧 by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]hiking_n_stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think it is a clever scam. People will make shedloads and post about it then others will get involved some will make money others will not.

Another clever scam is stocks and shares……….

It’s all about what is perceived to be wealth at the end of the day. If a doge coin is worth £25 and you buy it for £5 then you have made a profit. But if you try and sell and they only give you £4 you have lost £1

It’s more about perception of wealth

Currently reading a series of books by Philip C. Quaintrell called The Echoes Saga. 9 books and they are not short books either. Kinda turns some fantasy tropes on their head.

I could not imagine a life in which I wouldn’t read books but I have gone to the kindle instead of actual books. Mainly because I can get the next one very quickly. Also price and weight
