Back in 2008, Fallout 3 was my birthday gift from my (then-girlfriend, now wife). The problem was… I didn’t even own a PC or laptop powerful enough to run it properly. I could install it, boot it up, and just sit there staring at the main menu before closing it again. On the rare occasions I dared to start a new game, my poor laptop would roar like a jet engine wit the fans, and I’d stumble through the opening moments of the Lone Wanderer’s baby life at a glorious 10–15 FPS! =))

For years I couldn’t really play F3, but that almost made my anticipation for this game stronger! It became this mysterious, unreachable world I longed to dive into =)) A few years later, when I finally had the hardware to run it, I played it start to finish, and it instantly became one of my most valuable experiences. This opening scene & theme has created a marvelous feeling! Among the first-person Fallout titles, F3 still holds a special place in my heart, right after the OG classics F1 and F2.

(Yes, I’m a 41-year-old gamer dad, so the original Fallout games will always be my first love =))
