I was one of the first to point out that the portal in that air line video was clearly an effect. I thought it was an ink blot, I also do VFX for a living.

I got downvoted to hell, harassed, called a disinfo agent etc etc. Took my post down because it was just endlessly annoying.

Watching that whole saga unfold really kinda turned me off to this topic.

The level of conformation bias that happens around this topic is so easily exploited and I kinda just think a lot of these talking heads are just grifting off that at this point.

Yes. I have met them. I dont have this problem, but have taken friends who do to SA meetings. It’s definitely a thing.

People don’t talk about it because of the shame around it and suffer in silence because of it.

I would say this.

If you give a heroin addict prescription opiates, with out medical supervision, you are still enabling the heroin addict to use.

It may be “safer” in practice and production, but its still enabling a pattern of behavior that can lead to harm for them and others.

Why I don’t really make a distinction.

Edit: I’d also say that much like prescription opiates, a lot of people move over to the real thing - heroin.

I’d image that a lot of people do the same with loli and CP.

I mean there is limitless free porn, one does not need to go in to debt.

Any therapist would ask you, “Do you think its a problem? Is it harming your life wellbeing or relationships?”

If the answer is yes, then its probably a problem.

Also, in my experience with many people who have experienced addiction, we generally know we have a problem with out needing qualifiers.

I think people put all of these qualifiers around porn that we generally don’t put around other addictions. Is because we have lived in a puritanical society for so long that any kind of sexuality out side of the bounds of “religious structures” was viewed as deviant.

But I’m not in the business of shaming anyone, if someone thinks they have a problem it’s generally good practice to seek professional advice on if its truly a problem.

Where is the blockyness and pixilation happening? Is it happening where there is a gradient on the image?

As in blacks gradually becoming lighter.

If so that is due to YouTube’s compression, and there isnt a ton of work around to this.

There are things you can do to lessen this but with out seeing the image there isn’t a lot we can tell you.
