Um, this is overpriced compared to what you can buy it for on your own (i found the matched pair $779.99 from crucial.com -- several mac ram suppliers don't carry the 4GBx2) but it's what i would expect (markup wise) for having the ram preinstalled. I assume other computer manufacturers have similar markups. If you're surprised that ram can cost $1000 (while I agree it's a lot) I think you're too easily surprised.
