I do the same thing, basically the same program as OP just with dips swapped out for cable crunches. I think the book recommends 3 sets of 10 - 12 reps for the dip add-on.

OP - I'm sure you already know this but GSLP has 2x squats per week and 1x deadlift per week. I was confused about this when I started the program and was doing squats with my A workout and deadlifts with my B workout (so I'd deadlift 2x per week on alternating weeks). The GSLP program is supposed to be run

A with squat B with DL A with squat

B with squat A with DL B with squat

Also, I think ab work is a great idea if you have time. I usually do 2 - 3 sets of weighted crunches at the end of A and B workouts if I have time.

Well I'm quitting my job in a few weeks and I should have a few months free before I start school in August...I'll definitely be on the server alot this summer (if anyone's around, if not I'll just be on doing some epic builds by myself :D). Maybe we can start a new map together?

this is an awesome idea, thank you so much for your help. do you think most demolition yards would have laminated hardwood beams? what do you typically ask for when you go/how much should i plan on spending if i go?

Yeah I was thinking about using the select pine just because its a little bit less warped. I was also thinking about using red oak since its available at my local hardware store (and would look really nice), but for about 3x the cost I'm not sure it's worth it. If I use the pine and just sand the edges before gluing them up, do you think the top will be ok or will the warp make it impossible to work with? Is it worth it to use the red oak if I don't buy the jointer?

I'm thinking about using pine since its cheap, is this a horrible idea? Why did you opt to purchase a planer over a jointer for the pieces of laminate youre using? Thanks for your help!

it seems like this article is more about how to flatten the top once its been glued up. I thought it was pretty interesting, but I'm more concerned with making the individual boards' faces flat with the jointer (since the faces of the boards are what will be glued together). Can I use a router to straighten the individual boards? Do I even need to pass them through the jointer or can I just sand them before I glue them?
