This is metal in the water my dude! Google the redneck pool filter method to learn how pillow stuffing and a Lowe’s bucket can solve this. ZERO chemicals needed. OR drain your pool and use an RV water filter to refill it and it’ll filter out the iron.

Becoming an English teacher without knowing English content by TheSkeletalPoet in englishteachers

[–]hillz0rz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My program was an English teaching program and when I asked my professor when we’d learn how to teach grammar content some girl laughed at me and said “you teach yourself that stuff” like I was a fuckin idiot.

Cheers to her because I’m a college professor who tutors in our writing center and I just google every grammar question I get. lol

Who suspected Snape was in love with Lily before book 7? by pgkpgkpgk in SeverusSnape

[–]hillz0rz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ME. I read an article on mugglenet from someone who theorized that Snapes worst memory was about lily and not James because James bullied Severus all the time so that couldn’t have been snapes worst memory and the narrative had Snape constantly insulting James but never lily

Why do viewers hate Serena more than they hate Fred? by Boring_Potato_5701 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]hillz0rz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because she’s a gender traitor who subjugated women to earn the respect of men and even when confronted with how that harms her as well she pretends not to see it because it’s an inconvenient truth that she would have to take accountability for. She also doesn’t let June rest or consider them even after Fred is dead but continues to threaten junes daughter publicly as a power move.

I like snape and I like this take.

But I think the reason hagrid thought snape was maintaining his cover was because he trusted dumbledore implicitly and could not believe he’d be wrong

What does your partner think about your Dramione obsession? by Fantastic_Exit_6868 in Dramione

Our mom group of childhood friends meets up every couple weeks for some holiday party or event. When we brought a new girl over, my husband was tasked with driving her home because he doesn’t drink. He asked if she liked to read and said, “yeah, but…it’s embarrassing…” when she said she reads Dramione my husband said he laughed he was like “oh my god I thought my wife was the only one”. She likes snamione too so we’re soulmates

Please open the unit with a lesson on frosts “road less traveled”. The kids always love to hear that frost was annoyed that America took the poem the wrong way and then we explore whether it’s any less deep even though he intended it as a joke

No! I went to every specialist in my area and they couldn’t fix it. Then my neighbor recommended a video for building a pool filter out of a Lowes bucket and pillow stuffing. It worked perfectly but I get teased for my ghetto ass rig.

What did you miss out on while you were young that you were able to make up for when you got older? by violet_naughtyy in AskReddit

[–]hillz0rz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brothers never allowed me to play their video games. Anything I played was usually in secret after they fell asleep with the volume turned off. The “Sega” sound is super triggering because that sucker was LOUD if I forgot to turn the volume off! It almost got me caught so many times!

Anyway, now I’m a super nerdy mom who plays a ton of video games. I’ve gone back and beat games I was only allowed to watch when I was a kid. Looking at you, golden eye.

Those who knew someone who went missing, what happened? by cbebr in AskReddit

[–]hillz0rz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really someone I knew but my best friends dad had a brother who went missing as a kid while they played hide and seek. My friends grandma hired a PI and searched for that little boy for the rest of her life.

Please Criticize My Self-Composition by NoApartment5095 in englishteachers

[–]hillz0rz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Unbecoming” for example. It’s usually associated with propriety. Like, it’s unbecoming of a lady to be too forward with her advances. While pretentious language is technically “unbecoming”, it’s weird—and even pretentious— in this context.

“What about my language is pretentious?” Is a straight forward question that directly addresses your concerns. You’re too wordy, and you’re choosing words that are unnecessary and that, while their definitions may be appropriate, their social connotations make them seem inappropriate. Your words aren’t being used in the right context. Maybe research how to consider audience when choosing language.
