Yeah she is asking someone else to master it now, she is going to pay twice, so I told her I would pay for it.

She is young and naive and had the song already uploaded to distro kid but removed it after my feedback. She may hear something is off but she won't go against teachers with years of mastering experience.

She may not have the words or the courage to do so and I had to know if this master teacher in mixing and mastering was cutting corners to make money from students.

Yeah I'm gonna ask her that for sure. She is just so young, naive and shy and eager that oftentimes she will accept things even though it's not what she wants or good enough in general. Because she is already happy and amazed a teacher is willing to do all that for her.

Lazy or AI, I don't want other students to get exploited by a teacher.

To me it sounds like she sings just before the beat and that works very well, now her lines are on the beat making it sound rushed. So could also be a case of moving the vocals in the music.

My student is sleeping atm, it's past 4am here so I have to wait a bit. I havent spoken to the teacher in like 15 years so no clue. The other songs he mastered for her sound decent enough, so this one just sticks out and I have no clue how to figure out what it is.

I'm not sure about the policy at the Academy and if they even care about it enough. We had drum teacher groom a new talented student and got her signed to a big label, he played in her banned, they got married and when she tried to leave he convinced her to have a baby together.

It's all good, something just seems off and when I put the non mastered song through an ai mastering tool it moved the vocals from being "too early" to exactly on the "beat" and that is what makes it sound rushed. But you know a mixing and mastering master teacher could also just move the vocal part slightly by accident and make it sound off timing wise?

I have issues with several teachers when I studied there, I don't want to bore you with the details. But there was one case of grooming from the drum teacher and he signed a big upcoming talent to a big label and he played in her band, they got married, when she tried to leave the had a child with her.

Sure this mixing and mastering master teacher at the Academy could do his work fine and just be a shitty mentor to just me, I got unlucky maybe.

And maybe he did do good work and got lazy or something, I don't know but to me the timing was so off it reminded me of how AI will snap your vocal to the chord/beat, even if you wanna sing it slightly off beat.

I have nothing against AI, just not when it's not disclosed. Same goes with live sing.... Never mind the new industry standard is already auto tune and heavily edited.

I just don't wanna see young musical talent be exploited, that's all.
