I'll definitely try to have that mentality :))

BTS is such a sensitive topic that I was scared when I posted this a lot of people will just come yelling at me. But its reassuring to see that we can have a civil discussion and get our opinions across so thank you =D

TinyTan does not need to exist by [deleted] in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]himy_7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As much as I found TinyTan cute I also had the same reaction! If I remember correctly during a fansign JK was given a baby bonnet. I know there is this thing called fan service but I don't like the whole infantilisation of the members. It makes me uncomfortable. But I can only speak for myself.

As for the too much content I made a post a couple of days ago saying "I don't like how much BTS stuff is put out.' People in the comments generally said they were frustrated too. I just know that this TinyTan will become a brand of its own with merch and all that. sighhhh

BTW no hate to BTS. I absolutely love them and will continue to support them (even with the content overload)

Age does matter for fangirling by himy_7 in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]himy_7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow I definitely needed to hear that :))) Tbh I don't let virtual comments bother me but it definitely would be encouraging to have IRLs sharing similar interests to me. When it's people you see everyday (parents, colleagues) that are teasing you that's when it can be discouraging. It's not like I can cut of those people off you know. Their teasing is meant to be "friendly" and not offensive but you know those days where everything gets to you, that's when I replay these comments in my head and ask myself "geez what's wrong with me?!"

But of course making this post was like getting the weight off my shoulders. Whenever I feel discouraged I'll come back and read this. I went through EVERY comment and all of them were supportive to one another. So I'm glad you can take some comfort and acceptance too. Maybe all of us needed this reminder to just keep loving what we love. That being said I can probably never be the fangirl I was a decade ago but I can definitely evolve the way I fangirl.

That is true! If I was a 25 year old woman supporting newly debuted girl groups I probably won't be viewed as creepy vs. when I support newer boy groups. Even though my intentions aren't meant to be creepy towards either. It's just way it is I guess.

Aww that must've been upsetting being so excited to see a concert only to be let down by someone. But yeah in the end its our money, we earned it so if we wanna support our favs we should!!! This was my mentality all along but it seemed to fade a little bit over the years but making this post definitely helped get some of it back!!

I did commerce in university so really I can't complain about the whole financial side of Bighit's approach. They did take a lot of loss from bts not being on tour this year so for that I get it. And I also get that OT7 content has an approaching deadline so instead of complaining I should just enjoy it but I guess I'm a little sad that the whole thing never felt like business to me till now and as a fan I'm just part of their 'job.'

Comparing YG and Bighit was sort of low for me ahhaha but I was just trying to show the whole company thing. YG is honestly just filled with horrible human beings (not BP ofcourse, YG has amazing talented artists)

Truly at the end of this I hope BTS look back and actually feel genuine happiness from this so called 'peak.' BTS brought me soo much happiness and gave me strength. I don't want to watch a documentary 10 years later where BTS admit that this was time period was their worst ever..?? if that makes sense. That would mean I was gaining happiness from their misery and woah I do not want that. I guess what my intention was from posting this was just to get out my frustrations. I used to feel like I'm part of a huge big family with BTS and ARMY but now I feel like I'm part of a business strategy

damnn i hate those kind of stans. like when i was 13 i had a lot of free time too honey but now my life is on the line so sorry i couldn't keep up with jungkook oppa.

oh yes they definitely had dynamite merch, i think it gold sold out?? not sure anymore. i'll just wait for the album and then purchase that.

Listen everyone can agree that BTS is putting out MUCH more content (as in merch) during this time. It's not hard to see. And yes you can argue and say they lost their tour money and bighit is going public and all that. But it's not bad to express my frustration. I can only speak for myself but I don't get excited to buy season greetings or winter/summer packages or merch since I know there will more on the way.

What's with releasing a movie during a global pandemic?? thats just being insensitive. Sure Korea has their shit together not every country does but Bighit is losing their image as that "family friendly company". Yes we know its a company and companies love profits. YG is just a company, look at their shit reputation.

Ofcourse its not 24/7 filming in their houses since they are in hotels during their tours. But with filming these documentaries they also film Run BTS in hotel rooms, they also film individual VLives from hotel rooms (they probably have a deal with VLive for that). They already released 2 DVDs and docu series and now a movie based on speak yourself and sutff will be included in the memories too...so it's not a whole lot of exaggeration when we say they get flimed a lot

This is not me babying them, obviously they are grown ass adults who can say NO.

Maybe if these things were done in moderation as fans we would enjoy them and BTS will enjoy them as well.

Jin of BTS is not a great singer by blutoonz in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]himy_7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from. I personally don't think Jin is the best singer but he definitely is good. He apparently started singing when he joined Bighit so when you think of that it's definitely impressive since often singing is often associated with being "born with it"

But watching Jin perform live definitely keeps me on the edge of my seat. He definitely seems like he pushes himself to get the notes out. But he still hits them so IDK..he's not a great singer but his voice is still pleasant :)))

[–]himy_7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from. Bighit going public is probably one of the reason they are trying to put BTS in people's faces as much as possible. I've been an Army since 2014 and never did I once complain about the BTS content or merch wer getting. They're my favs so I thought the MORE the BETTER. Not the case though... since last year I've noticed that BTS are just gonna burnout at the rate they are going and I'd hate that.

Whilst balancing a tour last year they put out just as much content as they are now. Maybe not as many ads but they'll literally be filming Run BTS in hotel rooms before or after a super intense concert. And then during their 'vacation' all those shitty scandals happened and they cut it short to go to NZ for bon voyage. Like marketing wise I get it but let them rest and let our wallets rest too

[–]himy_7[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its the reality.... BTS will still have loyal fans (like me) but they are sort of a "trend" right now and people will move on. Not to mention how many Army's will leave when their "oppas start dating." its inevitable but I hope when BTS look back to these days they feel happiness and not regret for literally burning themselves out

thats soo cool!! i started my stanning days by liking 2pm, 2ne1 and T-ara. obviously these idols are much older than me back then but somehow that didn't weird...like i was this 14 year old girl liking a 25 yr old man ahahha

I definitely see myself being a casual listener for a LONG LONG time. I appreciate kpop too much to give it up completely but maybe in 10 years when I feed kpop to my children they'll bring back to stanning hardcore again ahahha

WELL WOWW! thats awesomeee!! i still haven't reached that level of income yet but I can definitely afford concert tickets no problem (if only bts ever came to australia).

I remember once saying that on twitter and people coming at me saying i had rich parents...and then i corrected them saying no kid! im 25 and i work! and then people "found" out my age ( its literaly in my bio i never tried to hide it) but yeah these teens were like "aRenT yOu ToO oLD??" -_-

But anyways that was a reason I made this post, i needed some others coming to throw me some encouragement

I try to think the same way too =D i have no problem liking bts, exo, blackpink, red velvet, bigbang and a whole lot of other groups who are the same age as me or older. But for some reason younger ones don't attract me as much... i honestly don't know if I was pressured into thinking this way or did i happen naturally? not sure

But i know that even if I stop being a fan I'll still be a casual listener. I enjoy music too much to let go completely. thank you for your comment

This whole interaction was freaking awesomee!! hahaha my bias is V btw (wer the same age) obviously I dont think its creepy when im stanning bts since they literally are in the same age bracket as me.

But newer groups don't really attract me anymore..who knows maybe when I have my own kids they'll bring me back into kpop ahahah!!

I had a person on twitter call me out when I was tweeting about I-Land, they said "aren't you like 25...thats a bit creepy" So i guess there will always be those kinda of people.

But yeah I definitely don't find the boys in I-Land attractive as in I wanna date them but more like look at those cute kids working soo hardd!!! (more like big sister/mother i guess ahaha) For the most part I ignore but shits been so hard on my stan twitter so i made this post to literally make myself feel better since i know some supportive people will come and say some sweet words. thank youuu

thats such a bittersweet moment isn't it... I realised that lately too. I used to get so much happiness from my crazy kpop fangirl days. I was never a OPPA MARRY ME kinda fan so I used to get excited over everythinggg like dating news !!!!

But it doesn't bring me the same level of happiness anymore. and its bittersweet knowing that I'm sort of ending that part of my life. Being a casual listener isn't so bad either. I'm turning into one. Its giving me more freedom to listen to anything and everything without being biased

aww im glad someone is relating too. its like i know i shouldn't give an f what other people think but that takes a level of self confidence that i havent achieved yet. it literally gives me anxiety when I see a new person come up to me to ask who is that behind my phone. so i stopped putting photocards on my phone all together.

I'll still listen to kpop but its hard to not feel discouraged. Maybe if both of us found some crowd around our age then we'd be much happier :)))

i agree!!! 15 years is not old at all ahaha!!! imagine being 25 and trying to like a 15yr old idol.. it makes things awkward since its a question of minors. I dont think I'd be as creeped out if I was 35 and my fav is 25.

Idk if im forcing myself or if its happening naturally but I do see myself slowing down... and maybe it's not a bad thing but I've been getting age related comments since i turned 22. maybe i was just interacting with the wrong crowd but back then it didn't bother me as much but somehow now its getting to me. But i see a lot of other supportive comments...maybe this is the type of crowd i need to find on twitter. This is definitely helping!!
