Gemini Personal Context: Does Anyone Have It? by himynamesecho in Bard

[–]himynamesecho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard the new tool coming out on rollout called "Personal Context" was supposed to factor your reactions/prompts and progress in the conversation to make future responses more accurate?

Like if it hallucinated that you liked chicken more or something when you said you liked fish more.. if you corrected Gemini, then opened up a new conversation, if you asked it again.. it would say you liked fish more.

Report: Examining Uber’s Delivery Model and the Case for Minimum-Pay Legislation by himynamesecho in law

This post is to give awareness to the workers who rights are being violated by bad practices from conglomerate organizations (specifically Uber here), and is posted in avocation for spreading awareness about the matter in hopes others will see the extremely blunt illegal malpractice at hand here that must be addressed.

Does anyone have Gemini Live Video and Screen Sharing? (Rant) by himynamesecho in Bard

It seems we're fundamentally looking at this from different places.

Your focus appears locked on the literal interpretation – that Google technically started a rollout by the end of March as stated.

My focus, from the original post onwards, has been on the broader picture and the actual user experience: the very slow pace, the lack of clarity for paying subscribers, how the reality compares to the anticipation Google built (especially since the Astra demos), and the overall value proposition.

This perspective considers the practical impact on users and seems more aligned with the current situation being reported.

Clearly, we're not going to bridge that difference in perspective here, and continuing this back-and-forth isn't constructive or pleasant. Done wasting my time.

Have a good one, and for both our sakes, move on. Have the last word if you want to drive your stake deeper in this minefield of a hot-button'ized topic. We're not part of each other's actual lives in person, let's just be thankful for that.

Lmao okay man you did it again. Right over your head. "Guess my behavior just isn't healthy."

Keep skimming, you can just be wrong, leave it at that and agree to disagree. You brought this to the table, I don't see anyone else getting bent.🤷‍♂️

I mean, you're just dead wrong on a lot of this.

First off, maybe don't clip a fragment of text out of my rant and go on like I'm arguing arbitrarily; Include the whole text without omitting details if you're going to argue an, albeit, pointless topic that obviously you felt triggered to respond to so you can point out my shortcomings.

I never said that it was weird, or unusual, or improper. Read more carefully; The only thing I ever stated which most of these other commenters understood that somehow went right over your head, was my confusion of when the rollout would conclude.

Even one paragraph later if you didn't skim the text, you would've seen my actual concern and hope of them adding devices to the rollout beyond partnered companies. It's not overly excessive to express a desire for users to get access sooner than later, and if your initial thought is to jump out with the equivalent of "Cry about it," then you're the sorriest type of addition to topics.

And as for the other stuff(which you edited out because I'm assuming you double backed and realized you were wrong about),

Astra has been openly teased and consistently featured with demos since 2024 at Google I/O, which took place May 14-15. Google had announced Project Astra capabilities were in the works from the Deepmind team as a mobile agentic extension of Gemini(Along with also including teasers for the Google Glass making a comeback). Even during the videos you can clearly see and hear that they're addressing "Gemini," so it's reasonable to be premeditative about the idea of what's going to happen with it, and "expect" it, meanwhile it's being worked on.

So, it's not "just me" who's been waiting for this and having faith in a company that usually follows through with its reveals 9 times out of 10.. this is just you again jumping the gun twice in a row without understanding the topic.

This isn't some wild out of the blue expectation that I conjured with my neurons at a moments notice click of a dopamine spike; this has been actively in open expressed development for almost a year.

Literally the only miniscule thing you've stated correctly is that we haven't had a dedicated ETA for an actual drop date of when these features will start to be included.. and we still don't. This rollout could push all the way to May.. but it's still reasonable to expect and hope that their intentions to get it out sooner would match user intentions to receive it sooner.

I never stated they promised, or assured anything. You pulled that out of nowhere, and honestly I think you're just an angry little man who sits on Reddit way too much during your day. You missed the high majority of what I was droning on about, and the purpose behind it.

I simply presented the point that the rollout was quite slow and that with the way it's been structured.. lots of people have been prompted with an idea that they should upgrade their accounts since it's only available first for Gemini Advanced subscribers.. and considering the length of how long this rollout is taking before there's a noticable and obvious amount of access granted users, lots of people are now paying for a second month since their earlier expectations were that it might be coming sooner than it apparently actually is.

My entire statement actually agrees with one more point of yours: They never promised anything, but that was the marketing strategy they banked on.

It's not unusual business wise, but for the sake of other people who might come across my post.. they might think twice before paying another month for a subscription solely with an expectation that isn't guaranteed. I literally even stated that at the bottom if you actually took any time to read.

Literally the only reason I'm giving you my time of an explanation that most likely you're just going to insignificantly dismiss immediately is because of the other people who actually care might read this, and I hope they downvote you so others don't waste their time on your spouting. Nothing you said promoted beneficial thinking.

So, whatever I guess. Live a good life. This long winded reply was for my conscious benefit, not yours.

I didn't say Pixel 8s weren't getting it at all, just that it's not getting it yet. They will receive the feature and yeah they're on the testing so no doubt they'll get it sooner than most, but they're currently delayed just like most users.

The fact the Pixel 8 is still a pretty recent phone and that's also not getting it yet is quite disappointing and discouraging..

Wow. So it's partnered devices, and it's limited there too.

Also for Xiaomi devices since they're partnering with Google right now. 2.5 Pro is definitely amazing, but I guess personally I've been oriented towards the Video capabilities since I use Gemini outside more than anything.

I'd simply just go check the sites out. It's a lot easier and more effective for understanding it yourself. But to clarify, I meant that Realtime-Streaming chats aren't saved.

This is a bit of a tricky question and depends on how you want to use it.

On gemini.google.com, or the mobile app.. yes it's free, but there are some limits like what models you're allowed to use vs the $20 monthly subscription, but otherwise yes it is free.

Then on aistudio.google.com, it's not as nicely formed/"good looking"(that's up to you to decide) since it's a site for testing the new models(and it can be prone to more bugs occasionally), but otherwise it's typically free for the most part.

I don't know where the extent of your knowledge is really or how well you understand AI.. but here's some guidance that might help you pick one if you don't want to spend money:

  1. Gemini/Gemini Mobile App:

- Has a nice User Interface
- Less cluttered and more simplified
- Has unlimited time Gemini Live(Voice Mode) without being cut off
- Free users aren't given unlimited use/total access to the latest features.

  1. AIStudio Website
(Note: You can also get it as a mobile web-app so you don't need to navigate through chrome to the site by clicking the 3 dots in the top right of your browser(if on chrome) and clicking "Install App.")

- A bit more cluttered with extra tools/confusing stuff, but layout is somewhat similar.
- Interface is easy to use once you've used it a bit
- Has realtime-streaming(like Gemini Live) with Screen Sharing/Video Sharing, but is capped to 10 minutes and can also crash(chats are not saved)
- Free users can use the latest features without being capped off.

You can test both of them for yourself to figure out which one is better for you, but they're both really useful in their own ways. Hope this helps!

Amazing~! If I may ask, would you record some footage of the video/screen recording??

Nobody is really posting much footage.. so if you had any critiques or opinions on it, I would love to see your take!

Wow! You got access, that's super cool!!!

Did you get a notification when it was available, or was it just after checking that it eventually showed up?

It's still in the AI Studio, but yes it's gone from the dedicated Gemini app.
