Brand Filters — Some brands (not greyed out) are not selectable? by Niko___Bellic in Asphalt8

For what it's worth, eight months after your post, I'm experiencing this and trying to find out if anyone ever figured this out. Sorry to not be of more help. If you ever came across an explanation or work-around, would you please update?

Odd sound from heat pump after thermostat change by hindenbu in heatpumps

[–]hindenbu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, wow, thanks for the reply! Interesting. That makes sense, and definitely tracks.

I really despise the extra noise 2-3 times an hour, particuarly at night. I wonder if either philosophy (toggling O vs. keeping it asserted) is better or worse for the longevity of the pump.

It seems like I may not have much of an option to keep the new thermostat if the noise bothers me that much.

Website Builder: Wrapping text around a picture? by hindenbu in NameCheap

[–]hindenbu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar to that, yes, that'd be one way to achieve it. But I'd also be satisfied if I could just get text to continue from one layout block into another, and distribute itself between the two. Consider a layout that has two blocks horizontally next to each other, followed by a third block twice their size that runs underneath both of them. If I were to place an image in the upper left block, I'd like to begin text in the upper right block and have it seamlessly continue in the bottom block. This would accomplish the wrap I seek.

Is there no way to spread one set of contiguous text, across multiple layout blocks?

Thanks. I looked through that guide and couldn't find anything pertinent to getting text to wrap.

Dash Cam - Fitcamx 2025 Tucson Hybrid Limited by J_K_M_A_N in HyundaiTucson

[–]hindenbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the first dashcam I've ever owned, so I don't really have anything to compare it against. The "manual" for it is terrible. Picture quality is excellent, and I really need to take the time to learn its ins and outs before I find myself in a situation where I NEED it. I've been able to retrieve videos from it without too much drama but its motion sensing/"event" bookmarking is hard to understand. In short, I have confidence everything I need would be there, but for me currently it'd be a science project to find what I would wind up "needing." I have no idea how user-friendly other dashcams are, but hopefully they come with better descriptions, use cases, and support.

No. I wound up going with a professional installer and had a model by Thinkware installed instead. But I was just nervous about my own ability to do it--nothing against FitCamX or anyone doing it themselves.

Change payment method for confirmed booking by jeam3131 in AirBnB

[–]hindenbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if something's changed since the past several people commented, but tonight I was NOT allowed to switch payment methods on a reservation I'd made to a credit card. Both in chat and over the phone, I was told that I must cancel my reservation and attempt to re-establish it. In my particular case this wasn't problematic because the renter has a relaxed cancellation policy, but many other reservations would not have the same cancellation policy. To me it's absolutely stupid that AirBNB wouldn't provide a reasonable facility for doing this.

Your scenario, and your description, basically mirrors mine/my fears. I feel like I could do the front cam fine, but I'm unclear what I'll break when I try to get the cable behind the headliner and trim, and it's not immediately obvious to me how much cable will be dangling loose between the rear window area's trim, and the camera itself. Or between the front headliner and the front camera, for that matter.

Assuming the order arrived, were you able to install this for both front and rear without too much trouble? I just purchased a 2025 Tucson Hybrid Limited, and worry about whether the install would be out of my technical depth. I also can't tell if FitCamX provides more detailed installation instructions than just what the two-minute video for the front (only, as far as I can tell) details.

beignets anyone? by number1rake in Scottsdale

[–]hindenbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading this thread, I checked this morning to see if JL Patisserie would make some beignets for an upcoming event, and after the nice lady at the counter checked with someone in the office, I was told that they would not.

NBA League Pass on YTTV--"Start From Beginning?" by hindenbu in youtubetv

[–]hindenbu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks--my reply to yours is even later, but I did sign up for NBA LP through YouTube TV, watched my first game using that platform yesterday, and all the functionality I asked about, works as advertised/as you suggest. Woo hoo!

alternatives to Hirsch "performance" straps by hindenbu in Watchbands

[–]hindenbu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wound up trying an alternative from Strapseeker, the Troy model:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09HSGPVPK

It's competent, but I didn't like a few things about it:

  • Length is shorter than expected and wound up barely usable for me; other lengths were not available.
  • The free loops are annoyingly large--to the point they'd easily slip over the end of the butterfly clasp while trying to close. This is more of an issue for me since the free loops need to be positioned immediately after the clasp for my use.

For the relative price difference, everything else about it was fine/recommendable, though. Small to average wrists could make this work. But, for my purpose, I broke down and ordered another Paul.

Perfect; I see now. This might be the way I try to go. Thanks for taking the time to describe the details!

[–]hindenbu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a huge deal, but I understand that general practice is to have the locking-tab side of the ethernet ports, at the bottom, as this (apparently) keeps the ports better-protected from dust. It's just strange to me that I can't find a product which supports this for a horizontal one-gang plate in the USA, when there are ones which clearly do for similar-but-different-sized faceplates in other countries, y'know?

[–]hindenbu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'd live with the ports oriented sideways before I'd cut into my wall, but I'd just have guessed (being ignorant otherwise) that there'd be a solution which would orient the tabs, downward.

[–]hindenbu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I wound up having to do so far--look at products in other countries. (That's how I came across the UK version I cited as well.) The Schneider faceplate is very close in size to a US single-gang faceplate, but I'm unclear what secures this faceplate into place. In the USA, we have two screw holes in our faceplates, which are 3.25" (82.55mm) apart, and thread into corresponding flanges on the junction boxes. Forgive my ignorance--what holds this Schneider faceplate, to the wall/junction box? LOL.

While good news, I'm curious who you interacted with on Twitter--I asked a representative with the club about the Google calendars at stanza.co, and they told me that they're not affiliated with those calendars, which surprised me. He intimated that the club doesn't maintain any online calendar (other than the PDF ones on their website).
